Hi all, hope you are all ok in this horrible weather.

Bunny -lovely names - so excited for you.
Roma - beautiful pictures - I imagined you with long dark hair for some reason. Wow at those arms!
Tracey did you get my pm? Belt getting it's first outing tomorrow to toddler group! Hope yours is living a more glamorous life.
cake housekeeper sounds like a marvelous idea in our circumstances - congratulations on the new job - is it another writing one? Do we get to see you in print?
I wore this to work today in slight homage to that yellow chloe one you tried on a while ago.

Have occasionally used cleaners to help with a big clean before a party or something but otherwise tackle it myself. Would be a luxury to have laundry done - may consider it in the new year.

mrsjuan · 17/11/2010 20:52

Oh yes, and thank you to plum for advent calendar suggestions - the one you've ordered is lovely & DD is entranced by pop ups so I may copy you.

OllieWollieWoo · 17/11/2010 20:56

I have a cleaner, well, when she turns up I do - missing again today (40e in the OWW shopping fund tho Smile) - but luckily have got a new one lined up for next month when friend moves back to UK - a bloke who is amazing, reliable and . DH has said that even when DS2 starts school he wants us to carry on having one. His motto is happy wife, happy life! I do make sure the house is relatively tidy before cleaner day tho so they don't have to move 'personal' stuff around and it was a while before I let them clean our bedroom!

LetThemEatCake · 17/11/2010 20:57

I meant to say sympathetic urrrrrrrgh to OWW re boots (tho you re most def not a twit ... which I read as twin by the way, and thought, how is that relevant Confused)

and hells I adore that swallow blouse. Do you think better on someone flat chested

Icanboogie · 17/11/2010 20:58

Finally found some shoe boots in a 7 for the Janice debut at mil's party... a little high but look beautiful

LTEC Once tried I think hard to go back to others - have you tried the uniqlo heattech I think they are addictive - but they are a good length, wash well, come in rainbow colours and are really sleek. MN have loads of fans.

My kids know my cleaner better and see her much more frequently than the grandparents... Plus seems genuinely interested. I think of her as like a surrogate Mum/granny - so much so when she wanted to change the days she worked, so did I !! Grin

FritziGreenEyes · 17/11/2010 20:58

cake I'm also looking for l/s stripe T. Bought some a while ago in H&M but didn't like them and returned. And I ordered two different ones from M&S which were no good either. Guess where I found one Grin: COS! It's black, thin cotton with fine white stripes and fairly long sleeves.

LetThemEatCake · 17/11/2010 20:59

my bf at home is FT housekeeper to v.wealthy couple. Fresh flowers in every room every day, sheets changed daily. We were all like, bloody hell, how much sex are they having??!!!!

traceybath · 17/11/2010 21:01

LOL LTEC - god if I had a fulltime housekeeper I'd maybe find more time for sex Wink

blossoming · 17/11/2010 21:02

Just quickly, fleecy, I would have put you spring too. Very Gwyneth!!

All I am sure of is I'm not spring. Doesn't help much does it? Grin

Fleecy · 17/11/2010 21:12

Thanks bloss that's really helpful. I will go and have a longer look at the spring stuff now!

tracey I actually snorted at that. DH suggested we should jump at the chance for a little (ahem) bedroom time while the DC were with the nanny. In the living room. Below our bedroom. Sorry for TMI but WTF?

Good eBay work eie and I have seen that skirt when I was searching for my cream and gold one but not overkeen tbh, sorry. I can't work out why. It's gold, it's embellished, what's not to like? But I'm not warming to it. Tricky and unhelpful!

So many acronyms...

hellsbelles · 17/11/2010 21:15

LTEC - yes - I think it could be my chest spoiling it. Worth a go for you.

Zembo · 17/11/2010 21:18

Bloss I like leopard and zebra too and have both. I particularly like my new warehouse brown leopard scarf and think it suits me. My favourite handbag by miles is zebra Prada bag (in that brushed calf hair that's ultra lush).

Bunny how're you doing? Beautiful names and most important thing is that you're really confident that they're the ones. Well done on choosing with time to spare Grin

I feel exactly the same as Bonsoir on the HK/cleaner front. Currently don't have any help but I'm totally drowning so have been thinking really need to sort something out. Unfortunately I'm the type who'd clean before the cleaner came Hmm

Hells I tried on those M&S shoes you linked to. They're gorgeous but too much toe cleavage on display when I tried them, not a fan of any kind of cleavage really (ha ha another one with nothing up top anyway)

Abo I like the brick dress but you need to be happy with the fit - I've made the mistake of keeping stuff that's not quite right soooo many times just cos I like it! Likewise Cake can you cope with the polyester in that dress? I generally can't.

LetThemEatCake · 17/11/2010 21:21

hells I hope that didn't sound rude, did not mean it to.

confused re blouse as asos says silk but warehouse says composite ??

roary · 17/11/2010 21:25

Ahhh, Fleecy. Your DH and mine are obviously exchanging notes. Grin

Bonsoir and 40Denier I totally agree with those who think it's about your natural tidiness. I think some people are just naturally orderly and tidy, by which I mean they just sort of DO it without thinking about it, and tend to be always busybusy doing things in the house. If you are one of those people I can see how it would make you crazy to have a cleaner. (which doesn't mean, of course, that you don't resent the drudgery, just that the cost/benefit analysis is heavily weighed against strangers cleaning) My mom is a Tidy Mom and although she has always had a cleaner it has been fortnightly and to do the heavy jobs. She is also constantly finding new cleaners because they don't meet her standards! She thinks our housekeeper plan is hilarious, and points out that she has thought we have needed one for years.

I suppose the point is like Cakey and others I couldn't care less who sees my knickers. I also have no views on how towels are folded, I just want someone to do it so I don't have to. Ideally I'd like someone who can take the initiative to reorganize messy drawers, sort the laundry, notice that the bath mat is grubby, etc etc.

Bunny as you may remember Aurelia was our first choice before it was stolen (boo, hiss) and was on the list for DS.

Bloss I was chuckling about your description of your DH's work mates. You should see our black tie dinners, of which we have a fair few- fine for the men but the women are DIRE. I also like to wear edgy things on purpose as I overhear people tut tutting about miniskirts at lunch.

Roma your arms are FAB and you are as glam as I thought. DS pretty cute too!

In fact, I think (aside from our perfection) we could construct a Perfect Woman with Roma's arms, LTEC's legs, Vin's lovely lips, Bloss's swingy hair....who knows what season she would be though!

roary · 17/11/2010 21:26

EIE like the gold skirt. Hope things are brighter with you.

OllieWollieWoo · 17/11/2010 21:34

Fritzi - would love to make the Dec meet up but its the day before my birthday so a busy weekend planned with DH and DSs. I will literally move mountains/swim the North Sea/ebay DH (!) to make sure I will be at the following one tho!

LTEC - LOL! Hope you find a gem of a HK - someone I know has one and she is the most amazing cook and it really comes across how much she loves the kids.

OllieWollieWoo · 17/11/2010 21:42

Bunny Sorry forgot to say how much I liked your name choices.

Everything my sister has those shoe boots and raves about their comfiness.
Hells Claudia looked fab in the swallow blouse on last nights ITT - I like.

hellsbelles · 17/11/2010 22:08

Tracey - meant to say - I'm thrilled you like the shampoo...though it is an expensive habit!

LTEC - will check t/m (don't want to open up return package in front of DH!!)...I do recall that the material isn't an amazing silk (if it is silk) but it seemed fine.

And don't be daft...I wasn't in the least offended. I realise that some items are just meant for more model like figures...and of course there are other things that work better with my shape...win some, lose some Wink

Zembo · 18/11/2010 06:13

Roma Please can I see your pics?

Bloss what's your secret to swingy hair, does it have to invlolve Frank? Having lush hair is probably the thing about my being that I covet most. Ironic considering I was busy trying to eliminate all other body hair during the last decade of my life (successfully achieved many £££ later Grin)

Well done on your ebay purchase EIE you are very wise.

OWW you can't give up on those boots now! sorry you've had such a nightmare with them.

Exhausted glad stripy janice good on you. How old is your DS? Living with allergies is sooo hard esp when they're little. No personal experience but I am an avid label checker due to being muslim and needing to avoid animal fat, gelatine etc..

Yangy have you ordered those gap skinnies?

NY you'll look stunning in that M&S dress, worth the wait I reckon. Also wore my oliver bonas dress to work yesterday and was complimented on it. Just wore with black heeled hobbs boots and a black Jesire belted coat that I've had for a couple of years.

Tracey your size 00s will be hanging off you with all this Dukaning Grin

MM where are you?

Hells I had the same experience with hair cuts and my two, DD loves it, DS crying rather than screaming these days (aged 23 motnhs)

Have a good day everyone, I've got a friend voming for lunch so better go and start cleaning the bathroom (MUST get a cleaner)

traceybath · 18/11/2010 06:33

1.5lbs gone in one day - oh I'm liking this diet ladies Grin

Roary - you made me laugh with 'I don't care who sees my knickers' - must confess my cleaner does a lot of tidying too. I do try to keep relatively on top of things but well - if I was working she'd come way more often.

blossoming · 18/11/2010 06:51

Morning!
Great news traceyb. How much do you want to lose in total?
zembo, I've just done my hair: firstly it's a good length for swishy, nape length. I wash it every day. I spray kerastase volumactif from roots to ends. I blast it upside down with hairdryer until dry. Then with my straighteners starting from root I lift my hair up to keep volume, 10 mins!!

FritziGreenEyes · 18/11/2010 07:26

Morning ladies! I now want bloss-hair, roma-arms and cake-legs!! DH leaving for India today and I totally forgot because things have been so hectic... Yesterday's chat has convinced me that we need a housekeeper or a new cleaner. Not someone who makes me feel I have to tidy before she comes in and even then she is complaining that there is soooo much work to do. I always want to scream: but this is what we pay you for!

Hope everyone is having a good day. For me work, then playdate for DD this afternoon.
