Sorry to hear about your dd dolcee. Hope things improve soon.
Glad to hear your family were better behaved this time ollie.

I wonder what an avid and wise Christmas party would be like. Where would we have it? What would you wear? (Complete fantasy obviously!)

Umm can you not do all of those things [enabler]

I think your hair is pretty mellon like already so wouldn't take long to do.

Go and try some lovely dresses and then have a few cocktails.

Goodness knows what to wear - is it going to be cold and sunny again? You see the sunshine got me today and I wore my new indigo skirt which I really like as is super-flattering with grey opaques/shoe boots and then leather jacket. I looked ok but lordy was I cold!!

Esher - brrrr regarding heating! Have you got a woodburner and also I can recommend the plug in electric radiators you can get in b&q etc - very handy for emergencies.

Skirt and Leather combo sounds nice Tracey.

We have working heating, we just don't have a (proper) roof so the heating is racked up as high as poss but is going straight out again!

Think tomorrow is forecast gale force winds Shock
Was planning on wearing short tweed shorts and opaques tomorrow night (dinner with mum friends from school) but may have to dig out full length coat to wear over top.

ltec, if only I lived closer! I would love your afternoon. Try and do it all, as tracey said. And cocktails last, or there'll be no stopping you!
Good point there esher. They are promising serious weather tomorrow. Might need to bear that in mind re wardrobe choices ltec.

eshermummy, long time nosyparker lurked here. I have this John Smedley top in Charcoal and it might fit the bill for you? I can't tell from my iPhone what other colours it comes in but wore mine today and received lots of compliments on it.

Just back from book club (wore new chunky cardi with new indigo skinnies) and saw your post Esher - have you seen this top from LK Bennett here? Maybe too white in colour and not enough of a cowl neck for you tho?
Is the gossip worth knowing Tracey? Am v intrigued!
Happy belated birthday Fritzi - loved the earrings you got - DH has v good taste!
LTEC - enjoy your afternoon - I always think that little chunks of time away from DC help keep me sane and therefore a better Mum - seriously!
OWIIH - gorgeous JS top. I like a lot.

Time for bed. Night all.

LTEC, come back and tell us what we're going to be wearing SS11 - after a lovely afternoon of shopping and cocktails.

I'm slightly panicking - I'm going to a local MN meet-up on Saturday night (gulp) and it has just dawned on me that I have nothing to wear - haven't been out really for over a year and old stuff doesn't fit. I can imagine the conversation - "what parts of MN do you go on?" "oh, style and beauty, you know, the wise and avid thread", followed by an incredulous "really?!". Too late tonight to worry, will have to plan/shop tomorrow.

Hope you had a fab day Fritzi!

Almost forgot...

MM - I have this North Face Greenland jacket and it is VERY warm. Cheaper if you can fit in the girls' sizes Grin.

Lovely links LTEC. For those of you not looking for an investment buy, those Carvela boots are spookily similar to the wedge boots I got from H and M (£30).

Apuski - are you planning to go shopping, or will be 'shopping your wardrobe' instead?

Foul weather here. Not a nice drive to work this morning. Am channelling Bloss with a black and white stripey top, black maxi skirt, wedge boots as mentioned above ...and poppy, natch. I have lost about 10 poppies - I am sure they used to come on a pin (i.e the pin was the stem of the poppy) which seemed to work a lot better.

You were busy last night Cakey! Thanks for shoes link - I like those a lot. I am conducting a wardrobe sort again today and will see how much I need grey boots. I wonder quite frequently atm if my constant search for something else is healthy. I should enjoy some of the things I have instead of my usual keeping things "for best" (which never comes!)

Cakey when you linked to your imaginary party outfit you mentioned wearing the skirt with "a Cos tshirt". Do you have one you wear with those kinds of skirts? I really need one but haven't found anything quite right.

It will come as no surprise that Esher bought the Aigle coat I like last year (if this was rl I'd be so Blush at how much I copy her) but didn't like it. I can't find it anywhere though Fashion Fairy Plum provided details for me to contact Aigle and ask for help. If i can try it I will, if not I think it'll be the North face parka or maybe this Timberland or the Uniqlo ones Esher is trying on today Grin. I just want to be warm .

Have the ils coming today. Haven't seen them since last month's farce when I had to call dp and get him to come home and sort them out mid visit. I am going to let them spoil dd while I nip out to TKMaxx to look for sparkly things (thanks for heads up Cakey)

Esher I have a pale grey silk blouse a bit like you described from Topshop and a similar style (but a top) from Zara which I got two months ago.

I won a camel coat on eBay last night. They seem to be going like hot cakes so I figured if it wasn't any good I could resell it easily. My mum is wearing my Max Mara with a big tan belt and orange and gold scarf. It looks beautiful and I am a bit Envy (in a good way!)

I love that VW dress Tracey and am wondering if it should go on my Christmas list.

I need a new bag with a fair bit of room for Christmas. I have loved this since first sight but it is way too expensive. I like some of the Michael Kors bags on my-wardrobe but need something that will go with everything. I am not a fan of Mulberry and am lost. I saw someone with a beautiful black Jigsaw bag studded with stars the other day but can't find it on line. I quite like this one in grey but the prices are quite high for Jigsaw I think.
