Sorry to hear about your dd dolcee. Hope things improve soon.
Glad to hear your family were better behaved this time ollie.

I wonder what an avid and wise Christmas party would be like. Where would we have it? What would you wear? (Complete fantasy obviously!)

cake like the sound of both outfits - might check out tk sequins at the weekend as I like the idea but don't think I can justify spending £££

tracey shame about the house but sounds like it wasn't meant to be this time. Hope you find something soon. Has the barn conversion / caravan idea been shelved for now?

For the party, I shall be in this with these. I think we'd better have a 'clear drinks only' rule, okay?

We should all drink vodka, lime and soda a la Liz Hurley. (Who is jolly good value to follow on twitter)

hf128219 · 10/11/2010 20:38

Just to say Happy Birthday Fritzi Smile

eshermummy · 10/11/2010 20:41

Will someone pm/fb me the goss too please?
Am feeling out of the picture Sad

NY - that Sass & Bide dress is amazing!

Not doing very well at keeping up with thread at mo - too much going on in rl. Major house renovations (as a result of which house is currently freezing), currently running 2 weeks behind schedule and contractor announced 10% over-run yest am Shock. So although am still avid, I must be very wise at present.
Those of you thinking of buying houses - I say go for the new build that needs nothing doing to it Grin.

Also a bit concerned about how well dd1 is doing at school and wondering if we have made right school choice......

vinvinoveritas · 10/11/2010 20:41

hey all! I've missed the salacious gossip-

also am yet to plan my A&W christmas party outfit Grin

but had to share- at work today the office style queen (every office has that one girl who always immaculately pulls off pristine hair make up and the highest shoes and even once gold shorts with effortless panache) well- she said 'hey I love your dress you look HOT!'

hurrah (it was the VW anglomania donna dress)

dolcee sorry to hear about babydolcee, her smiling is a great sign so hopefully virus will be gone very soon

fritzi happy birthday!!

happilyeverafter · 10/11/2010 20:43

Just popping in to say hi, rl hectic and not even had time to lurk.

I love the party dress links and will catch up on old thread when I get a breather.

bunny hope you are feeling better soon and wishing fritzi a very happy birthday.

PlumSykes · 10/11/2010 20:53

Ahh, my mum has just gone home, having cooked and washed up roast rib of beef etc for me, so it's just us at last!

Yesterday I finally managed my trip to The Shops. In short, my friends, it was frickin disaster! Everything I liked was not avail in my size, eveything I tried made me look hid-e-ous! Tried the striped Janice. Lovely dress, actually looked good with my figure, but am so over my face/look lately that nothing I try will be nice for now.

I, stupidly, tried this, which is amazing, but not on someone with boobs. Also in FC, tried this bird print shirt dress, which I love in theory, but something about it put me off - the price, maybe? There was a sale rail dress in Whistles that I liked, sleeveless charcoal, with coral animal print on it. Suited my shape, but again, there's something about Plummy...

Managed to look at the Kew knit I fancy, though not in my size. Have ordered it, though, to collect tomorrow. If it's a keeper, will wear with this bling, in a WIT stylee.

Did go to Gap, but had forgotten voucher, and anyway was very jumbled in there. May go back, though, as they had some good PJs in the window for the DCs.

Finally sorted through my M&S order this morning and did a fashion show for my mum. Everything going back, although I will be reordering these heels in a different size. And possibly in the navy suede as well, as think they would be quite useful, and less harsh than black. I wonder if M&S will do a 30% off event this year?

Did a tonne of Xmas ordering today. Cox & Cox, Letterbox, Emma Bridgewater, Yellow Door, Not On The High Street all got hit up for goodies. No idea yet what to ask for for myself. Really, would like a night away somewhere on my own, to sleep/read/write/think, but fear that's a few years off!

DH still in Berlin, DD asking every day if I think he'll remember to bring her a present. As he's at an IT conference, he will no doubt come back laden with promotional crap at usual, so hopefully that will do. Luckily, she's a sucker for a flashing pen

blossoming · 10/11/2010 20:54

Okay, I've tried to ignore it, but please someone pm me too!

bunny, sorry to hear of your discomfort and pain.

esher, how dreadful for you.

And the dresses. Pregnant carciofi rocking that lace dress; Yangy, looking lovely there, and notyummy, in that 3rd multi coloured maxi, wow! Oh I love that Petite Salope mrsJ and plum? May I question the choice of shoes?

OP posts:
eshermummy · 10/11/2010 20:54

Meant to say Happy Birthday to Frtizi and um....can't remember....Blush
The whole of the last thread is a blur - think I only managed to post on two evenings!

vinvinoveritas · 10/11/2010 21:00

ooh hi esher, good to see you
Plum well done on Christmas shopping already- am the type to leave it til Christmas eve, then forget altogether [hopeless]
happily/yangy/bloss/tracey hello!
am off to watch the apprentice, kill P sort out DS and then finally source my perfect A&W Christmas party outfit!

eshermummy · 10/11/2010 21:03

Plummy - I quite often get on a real downer about myself when Im go rl shopping. I think that's why I do so much internet shopping - somehow it induces less self loathing in me?

I do love that Red Direct necklace btw - they have something similar (tho' obv not as nice) in H&M at mo - saw at weekend but was with dh who was doing much eye rolling etc (I was taking a million few things back for a refund as per).

I have also decided that I want a very specific top. Has anyone got any ideas where I can find

long sleeve
cowl-ish, poss boat necked
silky material - either silk but a very fine jersey or poss wool jersey would be ok
cream/ivory/very pale pink/blush or nude or very pale grey in colour
capable of being tucked in

If you lot don't know where it exists I might as well give up!

PlumSykes · 10/11/2010 21:04

Oh, also, am thinking I would really like this gilet, as linked to by WIT, again. God, am such a WIT groupie today! Anyway, I love gilets on other people, but always feel they are a bit Flintstones on me. Am hoping black rather than browny shades would be less so. Any thoughs?

notyummy · 10/11/2010 21:09

Oh Plum, you sound a bit blue. You are gorgeous though- but I know the brain doesn't always tell you that. I agree with you about Gap btw- last time I was there it was like a jjumble sale.

traceybath · 10/11/2010 21:09

Plum - I blame the lighting in shops. Also for me sometimes my hair just looks so wrong and thats all I can focus on. Agree with Esher - internet shopping is generally the way to go with dusty mirrors and a dimly lit room Wink

I bought that m&s faux fur gilet and I just do not get on with it - feel way too womble-like in it.

Esher - I have a cheapy cowl neck top from gap but not the right colours.

MM - talk about a freudian slip with the gag Wink

I am very much liking this - Is that the colour you've got Vino?

DTI10 · 10/11/2010 21:13

Evening all!

Can I also be privvy to the goss??

Imaginery party shoes would definitely involve leopard print if my size was not sold out!

LTEC another pair of Belstaffs being exchanged today for the Trialmasters. Let's see if they are able to stay with me!

LetThemEatCake · 10/11/2010 21:27

bonsoir, cheries.

Plum I know that horrid feeling all too well. rest assured you are loveliness itself.

Am befuddled with links. Um ... Choo, yes thihnk Janice in either colour would suit you (beware thinner material on the navy, I found I had to buy a size bigger in navy than in stripe for reasons of decency)

ANY INVISIBLE UNDIE RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE???

wonderful earrings Fritzi I love Alex Monroe

Um, A*W Xmas party .. I think I would wear this maxi with metallic heels (maybe I could buy my maternity Choos back?? Grin) or go for something uber-short since I have decided that my legs aren't as hideous as I've always thought. Maybe this skirt with cos t-shirt tucked in and the ever-faithful leather biker.

Teacher at nursery today said "ah, you are always Fashion Mum aren't you" Nicely though. Not a patch on vino's compliment though, hurrah, that's a great one!

anyway, why imaginary? think we need to work towards a proper A&W event in the new year. Book out babbington house or scarlett or something and pack up a glamorous storm.

eshermummy · 10/11/2010 21:32

Plum - I too have been toying with idea of shaggy gilet - I think that mongolian sheepskin stuff is nicer than faux fur (and less womble-y on someone short like me).
However have desisted from buying on basis that is too late in season now - is too cold to wear anything but a proper coat here in the mornings now and you can't wear a coat over one so......
What do you think? Am not sure that they provide much warmth anyway (unlike the faux fur ones)Confused
ASOS had a nice one but think is sold out. I also saw a couple of nice ones on Warehouse online but not sure if still there. think there was a nice dip-dyed one iirc.

LTEC - have been wearing the Lady Jen's daily and liking much more but yes, that annoying popper/strap thing happens to me too. Most irritado.

LetThemEatCake · 10/11/2010 21:34

oooh, btw

have to go in to town tomorrow arvo for (wait for it) an SS11 press launch. I know, flippin' freezing outside, feels very wrong. Anyway, dh is coming home to relieve me of my duties Wink after lunch, so I don't need to hurry back.

I am paralysed by the possibilities/ Do I go shopping? try to find a salon with a clear appt schedule to get a Mellonhead?? Meet a friend for cocktails? sit alone in a bar, looking mysterious and relishing my solitude??

OMG!!!!

I feel so bad saying it but I am so excited

and what am I going to wear??!! Grin

LetThemEatCake · 10/11/2010 21:35

re gilets, don't bother. I haven't worn mine in weeks.
