Sorry to hear about your dd dolcee. Hope things improve soon.
Glad to hear your family were better behaved this time ollie.

I wonder what an avid and wise Christmas party would be like. Where would we have it? What would you wear? (Complete fantasy obviously!)

vinvinoveritas · 15/11/2010 14:57

hello all- feeling hideous so I might delete pics but will leave them there til tomorrow Smile thought only fair as I haven't been to a meet up- I could be anyone
reine and reallygrumpy I think I've fixed the settings

I vote anya, carciofi

re shirt dresses I love them! They have to be sufficiently voluminous and belted though, but yes I really like them. Saw a v nice black silk one recently somewhere, will try and recall where

am still feeling a bit Shock at VPHL Grin! There's a thought!!

vinvinoveritas · 15/11/2010 14:59

erm, what is lurex>? do I want to know!? Grin

ReineDeSaba · 15/11/2010 15:02

Oh! My! Goodness! Vin you are totally gorgeous..vavavoom... and your beautiful dc..those baby blues on dd!thank you for sharing.

ReineDeSaba · 15/11/2010 15:03

lurex is silver or gold thread running through wool.

bunnymother · 15/11/2010 15:05

Reine - hmm, what NOT to say to a pregnant woman "are you having twins?" as odds are that you aren't! How rude. Although here you are now, shopping away for a svelte post-DC body. Very nice!

Marsha - oh, v sweet of you, thank you - am soothed! Nanny started almost 2 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier or more grateful! Means I can properly rest now and little DD is still getting out and about and having fun. Glad to hear your little koala DS is sounding to be better today. Little cutie cutie.

ReineDeSaba · 15/11/2010 15:05

oh google says metallic yarn

vinvinoveritas · 15/11/2010 15:06

Romanarama your linguistic talents amaze me!! Wow!! Where did you learn Russian and Mandarin? That's really impressive, I lived in Italy when I was younger so I used to speak Italian but I've forgotten loads (worryingly) through lack of use, I speak Spanish, and a bit of Portuguese/French (a tiny bit), but I don't think I could ever grasp anything that wasn't alphabetically and grammatically familiar. [in awe emoticon]
You sound like the kind of person who is too intelligent by far to be content working for someone else, tbh. I had a website/company a little while back which P buggered up but the idea was great. It means you can work from home and for yourself- same with authoring, or anything freelance I guess.
I think if you are very capable and probably a bit of a perfectionist then employers can take advantage and expect too much of you sometimes.

ReineDeSaba · 15/11/2010 15:08

bunny was quite funny as she seemed quite worried I didn't know I had twins Grin but yes rather insulting I guess Confused

vinvinoveritas · 15/11/2010 15:16

reine it reminds me of the HR woman at work when pregnant with DC1 'oh how much weight have you gained now? 4 stone? It looks like that' I'd actually only gained about 16 pounds. I just said 'oh yes something like that' and felt HUGE for the rest of my pregnancy!

FritziGreenEyes · 15/11/2010 15:26

DT That dress is stunning. Agree that silver shoes would probably best.

tracey Cardi would be lovely for Christmas season. I don't suit gold but if you do then go for it.

dora Not sure about the shirt dress. Think it's more of a summer thing like hells said.

bunny Hope you are as comfortable as you can be.

vin tsk, repeat after me: "I am beautiful and deserve to be happy."

carciofi Have you ordered Anya yet?

marsha Glad DS is better today. Same financial setup here although what I earn in comparison to DH is ridiculous.

FritziGreenEyes · 15/11/2010 15:36

I'm continuing my quest for the perfect shearling coat which I started in August. What do you think about this? I'm not sure about the fur on the end of the sleeves but love the colour.

NotFromConcentrate · 15/11/2010 15:48

I, a seasoned lurker, have spent all afternoon reading this thread Blush

This particular one -party dresses and our friend Janice - is my favourite (and most costly, thanks to al the fab links!) A&W ever, and has forced me out of lurksvillle :)

notyummy · 15/11/2010 15:53

Afternoon all! Well, my mothers help has gone Australia for a well earned 3 week holiday....I am bereft. Because of the commute, trying to do my job without either a DH or any domestic help is nearly impossible. I have taken today as leave, but have spent it mowing the grass, replying to work emails and doing a series of online grocery orders to correponde with the various get togethers we are hosting in December. What a fun 'holiday'... (Did manage both a run, and half an episode of Garrow's Law whilst eating lunch though...so not all bad!) Will have to go into work for the next 2 days and because I can't leave until after 8am (earliest drop off time at the 'Early Bird' club at school) the traffic will be at it's peak - and it will be 1030 before I get to work. Nightmare. At least my mum and dad are up for a few days to help next week.

Bunny - so good to hear from you. Not surprised you are tired. Only a week to go!

LTEC - Leather and lurex with legs like yours...?? Hell, yeah!

DT - As Bloss intimated, I love a good maxi! And that is a good maxi....although I suspect more on you then me. I am relatively slim (ish) but a pear, and that looks like it might advertise my least favourite bits (hips and arse!) I do think it is very elegant though. I actually think I prefer round toed shoes with it.

Explorer - I like the idea of shirt dresses, although will admit I don't have one. I would have thought a belt is probably needed, unless you are coltish and long limbed.

Dolcee - I like the sound of your suggested outfit very much.

I am going to see DH next weekend where he works. It is 'International Families Weekend' - we are not one of the aforementioned families, however a lot of people on his course are from overseas and the idea is to have a big get together where they show off their national food etc. We are staying with parents of friends who I haven't met before. They have a huge country pile with a cottage in their garden that they use for guests! So, I have to dress for 'a relaxed supper' with people that DH describes as 'nice, but frightfully frightful'. Hmm Will have to think about that one! The next day is the Families Day which is apparently quite casual, but as it is a military thing, there is always an unwritten code. I grilled DH, but he wasn't much help...'No tits or arse out love. But try and look hot as I have told everyone you are.' Thanks. And lunch with friends the next day. Phew.

Right, sorry about the huge me, me, me post. Will stop.

notyummy · 15/11/2010 15:55

Fritzi - Gorgeous coat. Looks really tactile. £££, but if it is perfect and will last for years then perhaps an investment?

Notfromconcentrate - And another one delurks! Welcome.

bunnymother · 15/11/2010 15:57

notyummy - am chuckling at your DH "try and look hot as I have told everyone you are" - he is great, isn't he?! Poss not that helpful in planning your wardrobe, but great that your DH thinks you are Venus.

Romanarama · 15/11/2010 15:59

Love the shearling Fritzi. I have something very similar in cream from Joseph.

Vin, what was the website? (NB yet another horrid story about P Angry).

Has anyone noticed my blase work avoidance today?

Romanarama · 15/11/2010 15:59

blasé

notyummy · 15/11/2010 16:02

Yes Bunny - nicely flattering in some ways, but slightly tension inducing in others. What if they are expecting Helena Christensen?? The mind boggles....

Romanarama · 15/11/2010 16:03

ny that's hilarious. What are you going to wear then?

vinvinoveritas · 15/11/2010 16:04

fritzi that coat is beeeautiful! I think I would drag the sleeves through baby food and ruin them on the first day- but oh my how cozy and glamourous!

lurex sounds very luxe! I'm sure you all pull it off marvellously. Yes to LTEC in leather and lurex! v good

bloss Grin at online colour analysis- maybe that could be an interesting business model?

Romanarama · 15/11/2010 16:07

Btw, Ds2 is 6 on Friday, what shall I get him? He doesn't have any clear passions (except break dancing, but not sure how that turns into a present to unwrap), being rather insecure and tending to follow the others. I thought maybe a big box of s'th Star Wars would be exciting to open. Any good ideas? He loves drawing, but again drawing things are a bit boring to open maybe?

vinvinoveritas · 15/11/2010 16:14

Romana I could tell you but I'd have to kill you Grin it's now under construction, having launched and had P deliberatly sabotage the host/server billing cycle so it was shut down [aaaaaaaargh] that was back a few years ago, he didn't want me to leave him Hmm and then I kind of gave up for a while

ehem, but business model basically was that (at the time) was unique (legal website) and massive revenue from businesses appearing on site plus advertising plus links to other companies. Guaranteed income but also very useful idea. Quite easy really.

notyummy · 15/11/2010 16:17

Roma - There is some great Star Wars lego out there? May not be his thing. Don't know what to wear - partially weather dependent so will decide later in the week.

Vin - Angry on your behalf that your P spoiled your hard work.

vinvinoveritas · 15/11/2010 16:20

aww 6! I don't have a clue Roman- I'd say something exciting, that he can play with for hours and make things out of, like old fashioned train sets, but something groovy and star wars-y instead- like, maybe lego (do 6 year olds eat lego??)

vinvinoveritas · 15/11/2010 16:21

oops x-posted ny !

Think your H's request is very funny, flattering really Grin
