Sorry to hear about your dd dolcee. Hope things improve soon.
Glad to hear your family were better behaved this time ollie.

I wonder what an avid and wise Christmas party would be like. Where would we have it? What would you wear? (Complete fantasy obviously!)

hi all,

I bought this today in advance of my birthday.

I am thinking through my shoes - silver round toe high heeled or silver pointed? I don't think the dress needs much else to it.

Appreciate your W&A views......

DolceeBanana · 15/11/2010 13:30

I can't post a photo Bloss because I am shamefully technically useless with anything technology based. Dh has to do for me and he isn't here or believe me I would bore post you all images to say yay or nay!

Carciofi - I vote for the Anya too!

If I were to go for a Mulberry at the moment it would be Esher's Mitzi messenger....

Lurex and pleather great for the season Cake!

DolceeBanana · 15/11/2010 13:36

Explorer - Welcome and I actually like that James Perse dress very much.

dt - Like your dress too. Gorgeous colour. Silver shoes sound perfect. I am more of a pointed toe girl, but both would be fab.

Vino - had a look at your pics and you are stunning! Your Dc pics gorgeous too.... Smile

Marsha - you work don't you? What do you do ?

I really want a lace dress like Hells...any ideas whwre one can be found...short sleeves pref...

blossoming · 15/11/2010 13:38

That's a shame dolcee.

explorer, I love shirt dresses, although don't own one at the moment. I don't like the prices of James Perse though, and a couple of a&w'ers sent some of his stuff back in the NAP sale. There's a thought, wait for the sale?

Very glam indeed dt. Is it a big birthday? I think notyummy, queen of the maxis, would like it very much too!
Maybe pointed shoes would suit the occasion better.

carciofi · 15/11/2010 13:39

Lovely dresses, DT and Dora.

Anya it is!

carciofi · 15/11/2010 13:40

Dolcee, I already have the Mitzi messenger. I have a bit of a thing for bags. Blush

traceybath · 15/11/2010 13:44

Oh this is pretty isn't it?

I like the shirt dress but am not great at belting stuff as a bit too apple shaped and can end up looking like a sack of potatoes.

explorerdora · 15/11/2010 13:45

Thanks Dolce and Carciofi and bloss - I'm guessing this is ok with boots (regular boring, flat Duo boots)?

Am I the only one who struggles with dresses? I can't touch anything with an empire line and ones without tend to be a bit sack like or too clingy and show off my mumtum Confused.

I keep trying biker boots but they always look like wellies on me!

Of the dilemmas of life eh? Wink

DTI10 · 15/11/2010 13:48

Thanks to dolceeB and carciofi for input.

Will try some on tonight and no doubt end up buying another pair, just because it is my bithday!

bloss - not a big birthday. Rapidly hitting 42 by the end of this month!

carciofi - please buy the Anya. I have Anyas and they are lovely. Got my eye on the Fergus in Silver/Grey at the moment.

DTI10 · 15/11/2010 13:49

oops, thanks to bloss as well for input.

DTI10 · 15/11/2010 13:52

bithday!! birthday even?

I must stop logging on when I am at work!!

will catch up later if I can.

explorerdora · 15/11/2010 13:55

Happy Birthday DTI!! Have a great day and treat yourself.....

Romanarama · 15/11/2010 13:56

Dora I like shirt dresses- have a Theory one from Outnet that I was wearing this w'end - but I think the pockets on that one are weird, they look a bit like saggy boobs. SO easy to buy, try and send back with NAP though. Boring flat boots would be good. I don't like biker boots either.

Love the dress DT, very vavavoom! I'd say any silver shoes good.

Fab cardi Tracey, I'd like that too, but am trying not to buy anything at the moment following recent splurges.

Also because I want sheets for fabulous new bed that just arrived. Any good sites with decent prices/codes that anyone can recommend?

bunnymother · 15/11/2010 13:58

Greetings from the couch, Wise Ladies!

Welcome new Wise Ladies!

Have read thread and chuckled at commando and damp references (prob TMI, but there is a bathroom near the entrance to Ascot w a pair of my knickers in it due to VPL - am not averse to commando if needs be and dress is sufficiently long - I am not Lindsay Lohan, after all.). Aghast at idea of VPHL, though - doesn't bear thinking about.

Re libraries - how funny, but spoke to Dad yesterday and he is building a library (stand alone building) next to his farm house (don't be too impressed - this is Australia we are talking about, where land is plentiful, so not that uncommon to live in a city and have a little farm!!). His house (the family home) is CHOCKERS full of books. He even bought a few bookshops, too, such is his passion for books and reading. Apparently his library has 25,000 books waiting to move in. Holy guacamole. I also love reading, but don't do that much at the mo'. Also feel less of myself when I don't read enough.

Vin - I could cry, you have the plumpest pillow lips! What a beautiful girl you are! Envy Smile and how chubby-licious is DS?! And the eyes on your beautiful DD - beautiful you and beautiful little ones.

Carciofi - I actually like the Marc Jacobs you are planning to sell more than Anya or Mulberry [contrary rabbit emoticon]. Glad you are at QC - I think its great and hope you are happy there.

Zembo - ha ha, I also bought non-maternity clothes when I was first pregnant. I cannot wait to get back into them!

Verity - I always mean to tell you just how impressed I am w your v wise purchases! Due to being careful, it seems you have a luxe wardrobe, on accessible budget.

Who was asking about allowance? I do all the household finances - transfer ££ we need to our joint account and know that £ lasts X months. However, don't have an allowance, as such, and since hiring nanny am actually doing a proper budget now that I will need to stick to. Kind of liking the idea - takes me back to frugal uni days! Not that DH and I have ever been loaded, but we could do what we wanted and still save (although we aren't extravagant, which prob helps v much).

Roma - you are not the only one who enjoys to save on cleaning etc. Bought boots and lots of twin stuff due to original nanny pulling out at last minute so much ££ saved in childcare. DH thinks its a bit nuts to think like that, but doesn't really want to get drawn into long convo about it Grin.

Fleecy - oh I do have a crush on you - 100 shoes you say? Yes, you are def my girl crush Grin. I have about 30 or 40 I think, but never counted. Clearly I need to up my game!

Am going to see if I can watch Downton Abbey on iPlayer and have a snooze careful think about our household finances... zzzz

explorerdora · 15/11/2010 13:59

Thanks Roma - you make a v good point..

White company is always good - SPG10 gives you 20% off

traceybath · 15/11/2010 14:21

Bunny - I was just wondering how you were last night Smile

Roma - I agree the White Company very good for bedding.

DolceeBanana · 15/11/2010 14:33

Bunny- you do make me laugh! You are as bad as Vin with your disposing of unwanted garments in ladies loos!

Roma - was wondering if you did get the bed-was it the Savoir bed in the end? Nothing better imo than beautiful white linen all freshly laundered to sink into.

DolceeBanana · 15/11/2010 14:35

Carciofi - the Mitzi you already have...how did I miss that? Surely something else then?

bunnymother · 15/11/2010 14:39

Absolutely enormous and quite uncomfortable, but thank you for thinking of me Tracey Grin Wink. Not that keen on going out much any more - get tired easily. Oh and even random tradesmen I pass in the street are commenting on my size! Shock. Also, went to a pub for Thai last week and the owner had tears in his eyes and could barely talk he thought it was so funny Blush, esp when he found out DD is 17 months' old so 3 under 18 months. Hmm, yes, I am aware that this will be a challenge.

ReineDeSaba · 15/11/2010 14:44

Fleecy am another one who cannot throw stuff out but have been trying to pare down wardrobe to help see what I actually have so plan to try the ebay thing.

I have over a 100 pairs of shoes..causes a lot of storage issues!

Bunny Zembo and Carciofi hope you all feel well...I prefer the anya by the way but admit am not a bag person at all.

Dolce I love the sound of your outfit.

Roma you are a true renaissance woman..I am convinced a novel would be a doddle for you.

notyummy the animal print malene is lush.

I am wearing lurex with snakeskin today..(raised few brows on nursery run Grin ) so another yes vote for ltec

hellsbelles · 15/11/2010 14:45

Tracey - I love that cardigan for you. Perfect. You made me lol with your confession about your mother's sellotape habit. And as to the Anglomania for the dinner...yes absolutely. I agree that we will have to be careful with accessories when we wear it...to keep it current rather than red/black 80's

Roman - how did these suitors know about your commando adventure?! The mind boggles.

DH & I share exactly the same process with finances as you. I couldn't do it any other way.

I do hope you get to the meet up sooner rather than later so the collective A&W mindset can ponder (and of course solve!) your job woes.

Explorer - I like James Perse dress very much - particularly as I got it half price in the NAP sale (not sure why it's back to full price!). I really don't think it works as a winter dress though...in RL the material is quite summery so I'd give it a miss if I were you (I wear with sandals and bare legs during the summer).

Exhaustednurse - good haul though sympathies on your 'welcome home'!

OWW - thinks for the fingerprint link - I have ordered that for stocking filler.

Esher - I hope you know spanx hole/fakery was my attempt at humour - though I re-read my post and can see the humour was well hidden Hmm and I actually sounded rather worried!

Dolcee/pickled - love the scarf link so much I"ve copied. Hope that's o.k...it was just what I've been looking for (as I've also lusted after teh YSL one from afar).

I love Marsha's 'whole nap outfit' idea. oh the bliss. In fact I'm amazed that Ms Massnet hasn't got a 'buy this outfit' button that drops the entire lot into your shopping cart (all in the right sizes). What's the betting one will appear soon?

dt - Like your dress too. Gorgeous colour. and agree that silver shoes sound good.

Cake - I hear you about DH's lack of compliments but may I say there are fair few pictures of you looking beautiful...am I right to conclude many are taken by him (I know DD also is an avid photographer)...perhaps the fact that he takes such amazing pics could count has his version of complimenting you?

Colours - I am a winter...got that confirmed about 25 years ago (really!)..but I do look good in pure orange (when I have a tan)...it's my most complimented on outfit in fact! Does that throw a spanner in the works?!

ReineDeSaba · 15/11/2010 14:47

oops cross post with bunny sounds annoying but my neighbour asked me with dd2 at end of pregnancy if I was sure it wasn't twins Blush Shock Grin ..at least you are the real deal..and almost at finish line now Smile

MarshaBrady · 15/11/2010 14:49

A quick one.

Bunny, here are some soothing noises.

You are doing wonderfully, nearly there.

Has your nanny started?

Romanarama · 15/11/2010 14:55

I dunno Hells, but distinctly remember getting a view on whether or not there was vphl before going out, so probably not that. It was quite sheer. No damp patch that I remember Blush Grin

(btw I'd quickly patent the one-click outfit idea and sell it to NAP for £2m)

Reine thank you! I will send you a free copy. Don't hold your breath.......

Dolce, they were really very exxy. We got a simmons Heritage (unique to the Belgian shop we got it from, apparently) - also very expensive, but seemed to be the same construction as the top range Vi-springs (double layer of springs, cashmere stuffing etc, but for about 1/4 - 1/3 the price). It looks lovely, is very comfy, and I love the extra width too. It's 180cm and it means all of us can fit properly on weekend mornings. Sounds ridiculous, but our old bed could only take 4 in a row, so one dc was either left out or on top. Ds1 would regularly slunk out looking distinctly unloved and killing the lie-in.

ReineDeSaba · 15/11/2010 14:56

hells think I am winter who can do orange too..[kidding myself emoticon]..haven't actually had colours done though
