Brazilian Blow Dry - anyone had one?

Hi ladies

I am thinking of having one of these but wondered if anyone out there could tell me the pros and cons.

They're pricey but 3 months of not straightening my hair sounds top - if it works!

Any feedback?
Thanks in advance Smile

I honestly think that if you've not had the treatment before, have it done at the hairdressers as planned and that way, you can watch and learn how to do it yourself :)

MrsKing · 17/10/2010 14:23

Brilliant results! My hair is smoother and soooo much easier to style. Takes 5 minutes to straighten instead of 45 mins. Happy days!

AnyFuleKno · 17/10/2010 18:46

how much did it cost you mrsking? is it easy to put on? does it smell terrible?

MrsKing · 17/10/2010 19:25

It cost about £20 and is like hair dye consistency but easier to apply as you don't need to worry about it touching your skin. As long as you have an even coverage it is fine.

There is a smell but it is like a strong, sweet cocoa butter, not massively offensive.

I have really thick shoulder length curly/frizzy hair. Applied it myself but my friend blow dried and straightened it for me. It straightened really easily and was fine for 3 days until I needed to wash it.

Need to get it re-styled now as my layered cut not showing hair off to its best!

  1. This is not a straightening product...its for conditioning hair and reducing frizz.

  2. stuff in it is natural and safe for PG ladies

  3. works best if your hair is previously coloured/damaged. Ideally a gap of 7 days b4 each colour treatment.

Am not a hairdresser but have been listening to my hair dresser go one about this ad nauseum for 6 months now.

Had 3 mates had it done and its amazing!

Indaba · 17/10/2010 19:37

and you must follow istructions in that you can't use certain shampoos and conditioners afterwards....see packet for details...

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 17/10/2010 19:41

Oh fab, I wanted to post about this, but never got around to it.. will read with interest.

Just marking my spot and getting the thread on watch!

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 17/10/2010 19:44

What does it cost, approx, to have this done in a salon?

MrsKing · 17/10/2010 21:13

Its not a straightening product thats right Indaba...but it does make it much easy to straighten your hair yourself.

CountessVonKnackerstein · 17/10/2010 21:18

MrsKing could you post a link to your eBay seller?

muriel76 · 21/10/2010 16:14

Sorry only just returned to this thread!

Thanks for all the responses, any more very welcome!

well it certainly straightened my hair! and it stayed like it for a couple of months.

RoobyMurray · 24/10/2010 09:59

It must depend on your hair type as to whether it straightens it. I had it done a week ago and my hair is still wavy, but soooooo well behaved! Easy to style and no frizzing up as the day goes on.

I don't need any products and can leave it to dry naturally which was totally unthinkable before.

It is FAB and worth every penny to me Grin

muriel76 · 25/10/2010 06:58

Well I am having mine done this afternoon!

Will report back......Smile

Well I have had it done and am pleased with it, but - as other people have said - it can't be washed for 3/4 days so the proof of the pudding will be the first time I wash and style it I guess!

I woke up with a proper bed head this morning but it has straightened really nicely, which is very unusual!

Hi Amanda
What areas do you cover. I've already had my done but would be so much easier if I could have it done at home next time.

neuroticmumof3 · 16/11/2011 20:32

Can someone link to a used and recommended product on ebay please? There's quite a few to choose from.
