Once again, thank you all! And apuski DH does (yet again I might add...) think this is his opportunity to do something which will make us rich. He has been saying this for a decade now so I'm not holding my breath. Although I love his optimism!

I am coveting these right now. I saw mention of LTEC's Primark brogues a while back - are there pictures? Would they be a good alternative?

I'd contact e-bay mm to see what they suggest. And if they can't help, I'd be tempted to go back to Aftershock themselves as the item was clearly faulty. I would probably claim it was a gift or that I'd lost the receipt ...

OllieWollieWoo · 10/10/2010 08:03

Morning. DH away all day today - on a family day with his Mum, Dad and sisters. They do it every year - go to an old town, potter round churches/castles and go for a long walk before having dinner - means a lot to his Mum so I can't really begrudge DH Am taking boys to a park to meet the a friend and her kids. Such a lovely sunny day here.

Blossoming - you've probably seen it but Kew has a raspberry reefer style jacket here. LA dress sounds nice.

happilyeverafter · 10/10/2010 11:07

mm your park story made me giggle although I am jealous of all those with parks that have cafes,

Star welcome, I have also ordered your dress in navy and a few other asos bargains.

abo sorry you hear of your dh job, hoping he finds something soon

IO pegs are definitely being returned and will exchange for skirt that roma rates. Boden wool top is nice in blue and will keep.

Out with girls from work on Friday night, wore blue skinnies, a black great plains see through blouse with a cami underneath and very high platform fc courts. Towered over everyone as colleagues are titchy! Today having a lazy day in Nike harem inspired lounge pants, white asos tank, khaki gap cotton cardi, leopard print scarf and haiviananas.

bunnymother · 10/10/2010 13:21

Hello!

Thank you for all the v lovely compliments! Delightful AND wise! Am a touch concerned about state of tum tum post DCs (horrendous stretch marks this pregnancy) but DH been super supportive and encouraging (sees them as war wounds due to our sweethearts) and no point worrying till I can do something about it. Am currently Bio Oiling at night but still tum tum has red angry marks. Oh well.

Marsha - what a beautiful happy little boy your DS2 is - darling child.

Star - great dress! V much looking forward to shopping for normal clothes again.

Rufus - lovely knitted Anthropology dress! Feminine. Great w fab heels.

Bloss - loving brown boits w camel cardi. Am big Uniqlo fan - have lots from there. Did you know the founder is Japan's richest man? Useless trivia...

Hf - thanks for name suggestions! DD is Cordelia (shortened to Delie) so no C or D names I don't think. Although I adore Diana (the huntress, the moon goddess, Diane de Poitiers and Diana Cooper - fascinating characters. Although DH can't see past P of Wales association - grrr). Would love a name like Eleanor (of Aquitaine - incredible woman) and love Adeline and Estella, but too close to MIL and her sister's names. So... I like old and strong names w good / strong "provenance". And cannot be popular. Not much to ask!!! Grin

bunnymother · 10/10/2010 13:23

Apuski - take care - so sorry to hear you are stressed about your little one's weight. Feeding can be such a worry, can't it. I really believe in a mother's instinct being right. Ignore MIL.

traceybath · 10/10/2010 13:48

Apuski - its heal gel

traceybath · 10/10/2010 14:00

Back from weekend away - was meant to be leaving children with DH but he was ill/busy so had to take them with me to my sisters.

Was fine and children had a good time but I'm annoyed with DH and also got definite vibes from my mother and sister that they were being very disapproving about DH Sad Awkward really as generally DH and I get on very well but on the occasion when I want to have a quick moan I really don't want it to be held against him for ever - ho hum.

Have had hair cut and coloured though so feel more myself - very hand having bil whose a hairdresser.

However drank too much prosecco last night so feeling rather fragile today.

Bunny - you look fab.

MM - you are so Sophia Loren in her heyday in my head with Marsha as Brigitte Bardot.

ABO - hope your DH gets a new and better job soon.

Right I am in a spending mood so off to look at boots.

ApuskiDusky · 10/10/2010 14:15

Thanks, bunny, and thanks for the hi-cal milk tip, blossoming, I'll raise it with the paed when we see her.

And thanks for the gel link, Tracey, I will have a go and see if it helps with the scar.

I've been browsing for the first time in ages (both boys simultaneously asleep, yeah!) - and I like this, pretending that my job warrants looking so glam!

bunnymother · 10/10/2010 14:18

Tracey - that IS awkward, isn't it re mother and sister being disapproving. Really, only you and your DH truly understand your relationship and if you are happy, then annoying that you can't have the odd harmless moan without them mentally compiling a dossier of his faults. My DH seems to be v indulged by me, and he prob is, but that's how I like it and not everyone sees all that I get back from him (he truly looks at me as though I am the most wonderful person in the world). So I understand when others seem to view your complaints as more serious than they are, because they don't understand your relationship. Or perhaps I am over-sensitive/putting words in your mouth. I wouldn't be surprised if your DH thinks you are the bees knees, and your mother and sister don't fully appreciate that he DOES appreciate you. Will stop now!

OllieWollieWoo · 10/10/2010 15:14

I know its way too early to get excited about anything christmassy but Ikea has there Christmas range online and I like!
here May swing by tomorrow and pick up some bits as seems to sell out really quickly over here!

Friend just left - lovely day including long walk to a park where kids raced around on their bikes and collected conkers. Home for lunch and then they all helped sweep up the leaves in our garden which is now spotless - ah the joys of child labour!

FritziGreenEyes · 10/10/2010 16:08

Gorgeous autumn day here too! Glad you had a good Sunday despite your DH not being there ollie.

Missed your pic bunnymother but I'm sure you look fabulous and hope you can relax and look after yourself before the two little bunnies arrive as soon as your nanny starts work. And I love Cordelia - would have loved a name like that for DD but pronounced in German it isn't really nice.

apuski Great you're back, we missed you! DS's weight must be a great worry for you. I'm sure you're doing everything you can so don't let others make you feel bad about what and how you are doing things.

monkeysmama Shock and Grin at the coffee shop boy! I would have just reacted as you did.

abo That is annoying about your dress!

tracey love your inner mind pictures of mm and marsha. I always picture you as Audrey Hepburn Smile. Petite, classic and delicate features. Sorry if that sounds a bit stalkerish...

I'm so tempted by the star dresses... But still waiting for two other deliveries. My Belstaff boots are not here yet and two pair of shoes (short cheap bikers) and brogues are not here yet. Need them asap as it is really too cold for ballet flats now. Will have to make some angry calls to customer service numbers tomorrow I think.

AllBuggiedOut · 10/10/2010 16:37

Ooh lovely, and never too early OWW!

Wise words bunny. Suspect that your mother and sister Tracey are just trying to look out for you. Maybe worth making a mental note to tell them about the great things between you and DH occasionally. It can be so easy not to talk about relationships when all is going well, and only to do so when we're feeling down about things!

MarshaBrady · 10/10/2010 17:17

Oh no I feel I have led you all astray with my mention of the French grandmother Smile. She was a huge matriarchal influence on our family. From a very wealthy Parisian family (lots of family there now, living in the most amazing apartments in the 7th). And the only grandparent I knew well. But she was tall and strikingly beautiful, oft described as formidable. Would wear a scarf and everyone would moo over it. But too tall to be A Hepburn or BB. And me too, I am not petite, kittenish or delicate either.

Sorry to lead you all astray with that one Grin but felt a bit responsible!

Am making slow-roasted pork and having a glass a red wine, shall be back later.

I do love these glittering images we have of one another. I do too, which is part of the reason why I love this thread. You are all stunning of course Smile.

FritziGreenEyes · 10/10/2010 18:23

Oh sorry Marsha. I didn't express myself clearly: Agree with tracey on you being BB and always thought of tracey as A Hepburn. Sounds all a bit silly now Blush but I'm sure you're all beautiful in your own way!

MarshaBrady · 10/10/2010 18:44

Oh no that's fine! Grin sorry. Probably read too quickly.

I see Tracey as blonde and petite Wink Can't think of a sleb!

happilyeverafter · 10/10/2010 18:58

I would have pictured Tracey as a kate bosworth type. Weird how you get a picture of someone in your head. I'm sure she put is a fellow blonde.

Now I popped down the road to buy a kettle and bought a dress today. Completely impulse buy and have no idea how to accessorize it. How do I put photos up so only limited can see them?

mrsjuan · 10/10/2010 19:09

Tracey is Kylie in my head Blush

notyummy · 10/10/2010 19:26

Hello all.

MM - I am most impressed by your young admirer! I am sure it was a bit Blush at the time, but v flattering! Lov the idea of your suits going to a good cause after the link from Choo.

Apuski - Sorry to hear the weight gain is still a worry. It's such a primal thing isn't it, the whole feeding issue. I can quite understand the concerns - although a happy baby sounds lovely!

Tracey - I know exactly what you mean about the discussion re your DH with your Mum/Dsis. My mum occasionally tries to lead me that way ref my DH (who in general she loves), and I do try and steer clear of 'unloading' if I am particularly annoyed, as it is dangerous to build up a one-sided picture. As you say, they rarely see the really good things that bind people together. They are often private.

Marsha - Like the sound of slow roasted pork. In the spirit of Cake's cake, here is the easy veggie dinner we had tonight, that can be thrown together in 15/20 mins and is lush

Roasted Mushrooms:

2 v large mushrooms per person
Thick slice of soda bread per person (or wheat free equiv...or english muffin works well)
small handful of pine nuts
dried tarragon
2 cloves of garlic
plenty of mild soft goats cheese
olive or rape seed oil
Balsamic vin

Put mushrooms in oven on gas mark 6 for 7 mins. (Drizzle oil over first and add crsuhed garlic).

After 7 mins add pine nuts and 2 tablespoon of bal vinegar. Put back in oven for 8 mins.

Meanwhile toast bread and then generously spread with goats cheese. When mushrooms ready, put them on top of cheesy bread and sprinkle with Tarragon. Spoon remaining liquid and pine nuts over the top.

Serve with salad. Deliciosu!

(This is DDs favourite meal and then one she requested for her 4th birthday tea! Smile)

Apologies for all the typos. Blush

AllBuggiedOut · 10/10/2010 19:48

Roasted mushrooms sound yummy notyummy. Sadly DH won't eat goat's cheese Hmm. We're having raosted butternut squash with blue cheese and pecans tonight. Need something warming after a bracing day at the beach!

There is an option to make photos available to only "mumsnet mates" happily. So you can put the photos on your profile and anyone you list as your mate can see them. This the list of mates in in the registration bit. HTH!

notyummy · 10/10/2010 19:54

All you petite ladies - nice dress on sale here.

OP posts:
bunnymother · 10/10/2010 20:00

Wow - NY - mushrooms on goats cheese sounds heavenly!! Enjoy!

Ooh, Marsha - now you have added an element of Catherine Deneuve in Belle Du Jour to my mental image. Her clothes, that is, not her, err, recreational activities!

MM - you sure know how to cast a spell! Smile

traceybath · 10/10/2010 20:05

MrsJ - in my youth I was often told I looked like Kylie Wink

However tonight I look mumsy - hair has been cut a bit too short I think and needs to settle a bit.

DD has jumped/thrown herself out of her cot again and cut her mouth Sad she is crazy.

Early night for me.

MM - flattering but annoying that you now have to boycott the cafe.

LetThemEatCake · 10/10/2010 20:11

you do remind me of Kylie, tracey.

anyone keen to know what those neopreney Citizens suck-it-all-in jeggings were called - AVEDON. HTH

Hi. I hope you don't mind me jumping in. I have been skimming the thread trying to find some good style tips as I have decided that my wardrobe is in need of an update!
You are all full of great ideas and v stylish so thank you!

bunnymother-I noticed you are having naming dilemmas. I am interested in names and I think some of the posters on nameberry.com have fantastic ideas- might be worth a try if you are really stuck! I could post a few suggestions but only if you would like me to as this is supposed to be all about fashion :)
