Shop on the Beach, who have been reporting that their Merrell coats have been flying out the door [hmm, wonder why...? ] following my coat thread, have bloody well sent me a free pair of Merrell boots! And they fit beautifully! And I love them!

They are OFFICIALLY my lovely, wonderful people of choice. Moveover Mr Boden, Mumsnet has a new god...

I have them bookmarked in case I need will be buying a coat in the future. It is so nice to have a shop with lovely people for a change well done Wilf.

I got these Merrell boots last year.

They're fab, very comfy, warm and puddle proof.

What does the Merrel Haven coat feel like - is it a normal sort of soft coat texture or does it feel more like a waterproof?

I've been eyeing up those boots but I'm not sure about the size to get because I'm a 5 and a 1/2, and can get into a 5 if it's generously cut, or a 6 if it's on the small size. Based on how they fit you, what would you recommend?

And thank you for your previous thread - when I can find a small Merrell Wakefield in plum, I'm buying it!

can they please start stocking coats for tall people with longer arms in colours other than black... then, I will love them

Well, they asked me what shoe size I was (gave me a bit of a clue there what they were planning... ) and I'm normally a 41, though sometimes even a 41 can be too small (that spreading feet thing babies give you...)

In fact they sent a 40.5, but they're completely fine. I wouldn't be able to wear thick socks but they are so warm anyhow I prob won't need to. I imagine they'll stretch a little bit.

I'm still walking round with a massive smile on my face.

vivalebeaver the haven is soft texture, not plastic like a waterproof, but is brilliantly waterproof, just a shame it isn't knee length then it would be even better, but it does come to mid thigh on me because I am 5ft.

Well done on the boots, I bought the haven last year after hours of trawling the net, I am thinking of getting Merrell boots this year, just because the coat is so good.

OK since you're all begging me to post again here it is from SOTB They're getting more stock in soon. Tina tells me they will be saving me a plum on in XL if/when it comes in [ipodge not going so well ]

This is the other one which is like a duffel coat but waterproof...

Seriously, how great for you and how lovely they are! Even if it does boost sales of the boots. You definitely deserve it for alerting us to the greatness of the Wakefield, I love mine so much, which is a bit sad I s'pose.

I found delivery super quick with SOTB and yes, then did go and check out other stuff on their website and think they have got some great bits and bobs and will no doubt order again from them. Enjoy your boots!

Dunno. Who's rich and happens to have both then? Would be good to hear a comparison...

I think one is a waterproof coat (wakefield) the other is a winter coat (haven) - so if you need a waterproof coat get the wakefield, if you need a winter coat get the haven.

Well I have a lovely tailored wool coot that I got from a charity shop (though I need to put new buttons on it), so I guess I need a waterproof coat. But what if it's pissing it down and freezing?

Need to not be pg before I buy one anyway. But I will be doing lots of pram pushing through the winter.

I followed your thread too and got a haven from sotb, and it has been fab service. I have to send it back though (sob) as it's a bit too tight around the shoulders. I am quite tall with broad shoulders and the small doesn't fit even though I am a size 10 in most things. It's lovely and warm though, and very well made. I am not sure whether to go for the medium or wait for a Wakefield to come into stock. The arms on the haven were not that long, though some people said they were really long on the Wakefield?
