Framed or unframed? How much do you want to spend? Generic poster, or limited edition print?

brimfull · 29/08/2010 13:14

either framed or unframed

don't mind if limited edition but don't have much to spend so prob not

no more than £50 ideally but if it's amazing maybe more

oooh me too -will lurk Grin

FaintlyMacabre · 29/08/2010 13:20

What about a Travel poster ? The 1920s/30s railway ones are lovely and very cheering.

ninedragons · 29/08/2010 13:21

I have a vintage school map of the world - one of those ones from 40s classrooms with the wooden dowels top and bottom and His Majesty's Empire in pink, from Canada to Ceylon.

This one is obviously portrait rather than landscape but gives you the idea.

cornsillky · 29/08/2010 13:23

Oh I love those travel posters!

moondog · 29/08/2010 13:24

They're great faintly!
I lopve old train posters.

cornsillky · 29/08/2010 13:25

I have 2 in my basket Grin

brimfull · 29/08/2010 13:27

they ar elovely
I alwys feel a fraud about putting a poster of somewhere that doesn't have some sort of meaning to us though.

like the bournemouth one as we live near there

OP posts:
moondog · 29/08/2010 13:30

G, relaaaaaax.
If it has meaning ,chances are, you see it all the time every day so why get a picture? Get sometihng more exotic.

Reminds me of certain relatives who have hideous china figurines of dogs they already own.

wtf??

pissedrightoff · 29/08/2010 13:35

Those travel posters are lovely. Have just ordered one of the Cairngorm mountains, thanks for the link.

brimfull · 29/08/2010 13:39

I want this and this but may not be bale to fit both.

Esmee · 29/08/2010 17:26

This site is fab for vintage posters, they can also print onto canvas. We have a big 1930s railways print of Devon as a canvas in our hall.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 29/08/2010 17:37

ooh, esmee! Art for nerds!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 29/08/2010 17:52

I have a framed sheet of wrapping paper in my kitchen

Tippychoocks · 29/08/2010 18:06

I wanted the Irish one too cornsilky but they didn't have one for Tipperary. There are some lovely ones.

Grumpyhorsewoman, I may have to steal your idea. Loving your buns.

Autumndew · 29/08/2010 18:09

anything as long as it`s not bloody Audrey Hepburn.I have 2 cool (i think)Posters of Danish lighting and chairsfrom Ebay and a huge Rocky poster .Always makes me feel like going to the gym when i stare at it

OllieWollieWoo · 29/08/2010 18:20

Similar suggestion to Grumpy's - I've used material and put it in a frame to make a picture. You can also stetch it over a canvas - Ikea has special frame for doing this but a bit expensive iir?

moondog · 30/08/2010 00:19

That's a great site Esme.
Thanks for linking-have spent hours on it.

ZinglebertBembledank · 30/08/2010 00:29

ggirl - I am tempted by the largs poster! if only for pure nostalgia

ZinglebertBembledank · 30/08/2010 00:30

but would you like a map?

Pandsbear · 30/08/2010 12:28

Other thing that works well are tea-towels! I have one that was screen printed by a friend up in a frame. Looks great - I couldn't bring myself to use it!
