Going out on Sat night with the under 30 pretty young tings from work - help!

Right am going out for drinks in town (trendy city bar) with girls from work. We normally wear uniform so have no idea what they will be wearing other than "ooh dress or play suit"

Now - I am 38, 5'10, size 14-16 with blonde shoulder length hair.
Feeling like frumpy from frumpsville so need some ideas for what to wear.

I went to Gap as recommended on here and a lovely young man chose suitable dark jeans for me which fitted nicely and don't make my legs look too thunderthighs like.

I was thinking of wearing these and have some gold strappy sandals but need a top to go with them

The alternative is a black dress with tan buckle and tan cage type heels

Any thoughts from the style gurus?

When was the last time you went out and had a fab time? What were you wearing? Why was it that you had a good time?

Get your old gladrags out, feel good about yourself and you will blow the under 30s out of the water.

Sharon - I have been trawling ASOS - some seriously nice dresses on there with alright price tags - take twenty mins and have a look - also some nice tops to wear with jeans....

However I think I'd do black leggings, nice peel toe heels (looks younger than tights) and a tunicy dress thing - with funky beads...

I know! Ive never been, its only 4 nights so four different outfits I guess. I have two Whistles dresses already. Like the OP, I dont want to look like mutton. Although I expect I will see alot of it there!!

ASOS looks fab and if I had got my arse in gear a week ago I could have ordered but it is too late now. I am loving the leggings/peep toe idea with dress so am off shopping again this morning but with DC in tow.

Waiting for DH to finish getting dressed so I can escape without DC for an hour

Well after trying loads of things on in New Look for the hour without DC I ended up panic buying these and two bubblehem dresses. When I got them home they sat on the line of my hips so made them look twice as wide as they already are

Panic then ensued!

I found a purple strappy floaty dress that I bought in Next sale and never worn so put that on with leggings, my new shoes and chunky purple and pink beads. Felt Ok but by the tme I had had a couple of drinks it didnt' matter.

Had a great night and even went dancing.
