Are you camping,caravanning, hotel, friends?

AnyFucker · 04/08/2010 13:10

pack your whole wardrobe, basically

PheasantPlucker · 04/08/2010 13:10

A raincoat.

Based on stays at my MIL's!

mrsflux · 04/08/2010 13:19

scurryfunge - sorry self catering. i do not camp. i like walls and taps and a real roof!

Oh, you have probably got room for everything then!

Lots of layers that you can peel off or add to according to the weather.

Posh going out dress.

Depends on your activities really....outdoor walking stuff.

mrsflux · 04/08/2010 13:29

layers is probably the way forward. think i'm getting my knickers in a knot as its been a long time since last holiday and i'm SO excited!
(spent that one throwing up because of ds causing epic morning sickness and not being able to enjoy wine/ cheese in france!)

A fleece and raincoat! It is always colder there than in London (not sure where you are based) and a fleece is good for sitting on beach while your DS frolics in the sand....

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/08/2010 14:20

Directions on how to get to Devon.

Devon is nicer than Cornwall.

JOKE btw (am from devon, being parochial). Have a lovely holiday. Erm, pack everything you own. Include a coat because it will piss down.

Lavitabellissima · 04/08/2010 14:21

Suncream - I'm Cornish, the amount of Emits (that's holidaymakers ) who look like lobsters is shocking!

Nice blanket - beach/picnic

Big appetite - Pasties and Cream tea's are a must!

Passport - You'll need this to cross the Tamar

Enjoy, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, the Cornish are very friendly

Lavitabellissima · 04/08/2010 14:23

GetOrfMoiLand do you put the cream underneath the jam? so very wrong

I had a list that I was going to save for next year.....and lost it.

Packable waterproofs, essential for the Eden project!
Fleeces, shorts, had to buy wellies, swimming costumes and suncream.
Hand towels for if you want to paddle in the water and dry off OR get caught in a rainstorm.

Picnic blanket with waterproof underside from M&S and Pampers change mats for emergencies i.e. sitting on damp grass.

A day out involved packing all of these.

Goober · 04/08/2010 14:30

Stretchy things so you can eat many cream teas and pasties.

Dumbledoresgirl · 04/08/2010 14:31

I have just got back from Cornwall. Much as I love the place take jumpers and make them thick. It was bloody freezing there last weekend and stupid me took only the lightest of fleeces (well, I have hardly worn anything but tshirts and jeans for weeks) and ended up having to borrow a heavy duty fleece from mil (and still felt cold )

Enjoy your week.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 04/08/2010 14:31

I'm having a similar panic, we are off to Northumberland on Saturday.

Having spent the last couple of months on the South Coast wearing skirts or dresses and birkies I'm now digging out my jeans, cardigans and boots in anticipation of typical summer holiday weather....rain

We went to Cornwall last August....the beach is always colder than you think it will be. The wind blows and you are sat there making sand castles whilst freezing. Wear lots of layers

Enjoy your holiday.

moragbellingham · 04/08/2010 14:33

I bought lots of lovely summer dresses and sandals for floating around in.
Then had to buy ASDA jogging bottoms whilst there to keep warm!

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/08/2010 14:36

Jam UNDER cream.

Yes, pack jumpers, it will be blowing a gale.

Goober · 04/08/2010 14:40

In this order:
1/2 scone..... pronounced SKONN,
light layer of butter....none of your MARGARINE nonsense,
thick layer of strawberry jam,
mahoosive dollop of very cold clotted cream, preferably the crusty bit.

Eat 6 of, burp, then go to the chippy.

Goober · 04/08/2010 14:41

AND I'm not even Cornish!!!!

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/08/2010 14:44

Goober.

What are you on, mate.

BUTTER! With jam and cream scones (yes, pron. SKON).

You either have a scone with butter OR OR OR jam and cream.

Not both.

You heathen.

feralgirl · 04/08/2010 14:49

Well I live in Cornwall and it's been peeing down all morning so I'd bring wellies and a raincoat iiwy.

Oh, and a tip: the Highways Agency - in their infinite wisdom - have closed down the A30 south of Redruth to single carriageway so, if you're coming west, bring plenty of things to keep yourselves occupied in the car and watch out for the average speed cameras

pixiestix · 04/08/2010 14:56

Yep, pissing down this morning so a woolly hat and a big coat are advised.

Butter AND jam AND cream - Mmmmm! But its definitely pronounced SK-OWN!

notsleepingthrough · 04/08/2010 15:01

I thought Cornwall was the sunniest place in the UK/ [now concerned maybe she should not have booked a holiday in Cornwall for two weeks time emoticon]

JaMmRocks · 04/08/2010 15:05

The sun is peeping through this afternoon but I'm in jeans, although when I went past the beach earlier there were some brave souls in the sea.

And that A30 thing is a huge PITA

no, no, no to butter on a scone but definitely more clotted cream than is decent

Lightweight rain macs will be your friend at the moment.

Meglet · 04/08/2010 15:05

It wasn't sunny when we went in July.

We went to the Eden project, with the rest of cornwall on the rainiest day. Still a good day and a great holiday though. Going back next year.
