Given up vaping by accident…!

I was at the airport yesterday on our way to our holiday, put my vape in the tray at security - god only knows why, as I know you don’t need to - then as we were sitting down to lunch before our flight I realised I hadn’t picked it back up from the tray.

Had a momentary panic (understatement, I’ve vaped for 10 years and smoked for the 15 before that) but I’ve been thinking about ditching it for ages so moseyed off to boots and bought some patches and gum.

24 hours in and I’m definitely climbing the walls, and on our lovely holiday. Please stop me from going to buy a horrible disposable, or even worse a packet of fags! How many days will it take for it to settle down to not thinking about it every two minutes??

FWIW I wouldn't use gum/lozenges with patches. Depending on the strength of patch you have, you may end up having more nicotine than you did in the vapes.

Use the patch and go and buy some sort of sugar free sweet or gum.

When I stopped vaping I was mainlining sugar free sweets for days but they really helped ( I just have sugar free polos in my bag now and use less but when I have a vaping trigger like a glass of wine, I use them)

Apparently the receptor for dopamine is very close to the receptor for sweetness so can help with the urge. Like people who get sugar cravings when they stop alcohol.

Good luck

I just read Allen Carr’s stop vaping book, highly recommend!

The nicotine substitutes don’t help, you’re just feeding your addiction.

If you don’t use any nicotine the physical addiction is gone within 48-72 hours.

First three days are tough then after that it's easier.. don't give in and buy a vape you'll be so disappointed in yourself. I'm rooting for you!

It’s an opportunity. Look at ‘popcorn’ lung condition. Vapes are going to lead to very chronic respiratory conditions & much faster than cigarettes too. I also recommend Alan Carr’s books. Good luck 🤞
