Starting today - giving up vaping

I wish I never started this awful device. It was so much easier giving up smoking than trying to get off these things. I’ve been doing 1 elf bar a day and now just realised that’s equivalent to 50 fags ! Whereas smoking I would have 3/4 max.

anyway. I’ve been vaping full time since around April and I’ve just got to get off of it. I’m doing hypnotherapy, a breath lace thing and got myself some Nicorette gum. I’m at 24 hours now. Just got to get through the next few days. One step at a time…

Ooh, amazing. Good luck to you! I'd recommend the app I am sober app. It's excellent. You can pick the habit you are dropping. It's not just for alcohol etc.

Soloparenthelp · 30/10/2023 21:16

Thanks for the recommendation I need all the help I can get. I’m so angry with myself for doing this. I’ve never been addicted to anything like this level before. It’s quite scary !

@Soloparenthelp oh op I feel for you! But please don't be too hard on yourself!! It's not your fault. Nicotine is extremely addictive and you're making the steps to quit, which is amazing.

Soloparenthelp · 30/10/2023 21:31

Thanks so much. Just want to fast forward a few days. Everything in me just wants me to cave. I’m usually very strong willed just got to find it in me. It doesn’t help that they’re everywhere. Cigarettes are hidden these days but vapes are just everywhere you go ! Temptation all around

Omgreally11 · 30/10/2023 21:34

@Soloparenthelp yes I completely agree!! I think cigarette laws should apply to vaping really in terms of display and marketing! I've been watching the vaping documentary on netflix recently. Its soo interested. Based in US, but very interesting!

Soloparenthelp · 30/10/2023 21:38

Big vape ? I watched it too and that’s what pushed me into quitting

Keep going op! Take it hour by hour, I stopped after vaping for 7 years, it was tough but I rarely think of it now and I keep my app countdown running for those tempting moments!

That's the one!

Soloparenthelp · 30/10/2023 21:52

Thanks @Rainonatent

I’ve just calculated I could save £3k a year if I kick this ! That’s a holiday !!!

I made it through day 2. Struggling tonight as it’s what my go to was to relax after a busy day at work. I’m eating a lot but I’m just trying to tell myself to be easy on myself for a few days. A couple of lbs isn’t going to hurt in the long run.

Omgreally11 · 31/10/2023 22:17

@Soloparenthelp yes! Well done!! 2 days down! Also tonally! Don't even think about weight gain, WHO CARES! It's just society that tells us we need to be a certain weight. Just focus on one thing at a time! You're doing great!

Omgreally11 · 31/10/2023 22:17

*totally

Soloparenthelp · 01/11/2023 08:10

Thank you. Entering into day three now. Apparently this is going to be tough. I found a vape whilst I was looking for something this morning. I immediately put it in the bin so that I didn’t have any temptation. I’m out for drinks and dinner tonight which is probably not the best situation. But let’s keep pushing…

Day three came and went. I’ve woken up with a very sore throat and chest. Hopefully it’s a sign that the toxins are starting to leave my body.

Yesss!!! That's amazing! And you managed to avoid the social smoking! Well done!

SoAndSoSaidSo · 02/11/2023 20:19

Keep on going. You can and will do it.

I stopped smoking many years ago and have no idea about vapes, but the equivalent of 50 cigarettes - just wow I had no idea.

I need to watch the documentary.

Soloparenthelp · 02/11/2023 20:20

Thank you. Feeling good now. Cravings have massively dropped and I only had two chewing gums today 🤞🤞🤞

Got to say 8 🎉 the weekend was hard. I really had to fight every urge but I got through it. First week ticket off…first month here I come!

Omgreally11 · 06/11/2023 20:36

YES!!!! Massive well done! Keep going! You're doing amazing! Have you downloaded the I am sober app? It's so good cos it tells you how much you've saved etc!

Deedippy · 15/12/2023 17:18

How are you doing?

Soloparenthelp · 17/07/2024 20:14

I flunked this quite bad. I got to four weeks and then my friend came over and I went back to it. She has now quit so I feel like I’ve got a better chance this time round. Day 2. It’s 100 times worse. I never want to have to go through this again.

Soloparenthelp · 20/07/2024 13:12

ok day 4 and starting to get easier. Got to keep it going this time round.

Sparkle849 · 18/10/2024 22:12

Did you stick to it solo? I'm starting tomorrow! Had a few feeble attempts at quitting but need to do this!
