I'm done with vaping

I've been vaping for about three years but I'm giving up. I'm tired of burnt out coils all the time. I follow the instructions to the Tee but they burn out within a few hours and taste disgusting. I bought a pack of 5 could on the 19th, delivered 11th, and they are used up already. I'm not spending any more money on them. It's ridiculous.

What's going to be the best way to cope now? Nicotine gum?

What strength eliquid are you on? I’d probably go with the spray or inhalator rather than the gum.

I’ve switched over to rebuildables because I got sick of burnt out coils. Don’t think I could give my vape up

I'm on 3 mg. I'm not sure i can give up mine either :'(

I've been to the vape shop today, he put in a new coil for me and confirmed they should be lasting about 4 weeks, not just a couple of days. He suggested using better eliquid - must admit I've been using onepoundeliquid which may not be the best - and not using high vg which can cause the coil to burn out sooner. I've got some v drops to try. I'll see how it goes.

I don't think I've got the patience to build my own coils, although admit I've no idea how to.

What tank are you using? I also use onepoundeliquid and my Aspire Triton coils last about a month, vaping at 11.5 watts and with reasonable airflow.

itsthemenopausenotme · 20/11/2018 22:08

I'm using Innokin T18. 1.5 coils. That's all i know .. Not technical, sorry!

It's ok, it looks like your device doesn't have any adjustable settings so the only variable is the liquid. It might be worth trying a higher VG liquid. Coils also usually last longer with clear liquids (custards can be an arse for coils).

itsthemenopausenotme · 20/11/2018 22:21

No, no adjustments possible.

The guy at the vape shop told me to stop using high vg liquids?

I only vape menthol, so only clear liquid.

It could be the sweeteners in the liquid
I have one liquid that will destroy a coil in 2 days Angry
I've had success with tub thumping brews, Cotswold vapours (they specifically say they don't kill coils because of the sweeteners they use), and triphammer
Might be worth trying eliquid4aquid which is a triphammer branch off, I've used that with no issues too

Thank you, I'll have a look at them.

I stopped vaping altogether from 3mg. I was pissed off because it was costing almost as much per week as tobacco (because I would only vape a certain type of liquid) and I just stopped. It was honestly nowhere near as hard as stopping smoking. I tried a lot cold turkey from fags and couldn't do it as well as patches, mints etc. From stopping vaping I craved a bit for a couple of days and then it was ok. I just couldn't face the thought of throwing more money at nicotine replacement. It might be worth a try. I never thought I'd stop.

I also use onepoundeliquid at 3mg strength although I vape unflavoured (weird, I know, but it works for me). The lower nicotine strengths definitely cause coils to burn out more frequently. I've found setting up entire new tanks with a fresh coil ahead of when they are needed helps, as the liquid is really soaked into the coil. And topping up way before the liquid gets anywhere near the bottom.
I use the Aspire mini nautilus tank with an iStick 40w battery, the coils are about £10 for five so I'm very careful trying not to burn them out!

itsthemenopausenotme · 20/11/2018 23:04

Wow, i never thought it could be the nicotine strength causing the problem.

My coils cost £15 for 5, I resent changing them every second day.

I've got a spare tank so I'll set it up ready. It's ok to let it stand for possibly weeks until i use it?

I had a T18. It didn’t cope very well with high VG liquids. Didn’t wick properly so I had more dry hits than I like.

Trouble is that when the cotton has burnt the taste never goes.

The nautilus wicked better for me and I used to get 2-3 weeks from a coil before it started tasting funky.

I started using rebuildables because nothing beats the taste off a clean coil but it is a faff sometimes.
