Smoking around my daughter

I'm a single mum and my mum helps me a lot with child care as I work full time. I'm very grateful for everything my mum does for me as without her I wouldn't be able to go to work and pay my bills. My issue is her and her partner smoking around my daughter. In the short time it takes me to pop in have a coffee and collect my daughter my hair skin and clothing smell so strong of nicotine. I have to put everything straight in the wash when I get home. She says they don't smoke in the house but I don't understand why her house is that bad if they don't. I've tried talking to her about my concerns as my daughter already has respiratory problems but she denies everything. I can't afford other child care or I'd have to give up work. I don't know what to do.

That's a tough one OP. It sounds like they are smoking in the house to me. You could explain how much you appreciate all her help etc but that you're really worried about the effect the smoking is having on DD. If she then denies smoking in front of her ask why she smells so strongly.

How old is DD?

My little one is 4 and just yesterday has been given an inhaler due to her breathing issues. I guess other than keep on at my mum about smoking around her, there's nothing else I can do. Just needed to vent, thank you
