Stoptober... Anyone?

Thought a support/distraction thread might be a good idea?

I'm trying to switch to vaping... have lovely coffee flavoured liquid. Also vape inside but smoke outside - as the nights are drawing in and getting colder it really feels like time to start vaping only, inside in the warm! although may require a blizzard to actually drive me inside away from the ciggies

Anyone else looking to take the first step of Stoptober? Smile

Space you can do it, wine can only taste better. I regained taste buds and eat like a pig....

48h here, this quitting business will be an on going process for a life time, won't it ? But I don't find it stressfull anymore. That is Allen Carr finding its way in my brain. Actually, this book really helps, we are not making any sacrifice, the worse that could happen to us is succeeding in quitting. Nothing to lose. Carry on, every one.

elementofsurprise · 10/10/2015 13:47

That's it totally. Welcome to the cult

Anyone else disappointed it wasn't Alan Carr when they first head of the book btw? I'd love him as a stop-smoking hypnotherapist!

I did it!!! I drank wine but didn't smoke - in fact I didn't even get a craving. That is HUGE for me.
Hope everyone is having a great wknd.
I recommend getting an stop smoking app. I keep getting trophy and see how many fags I haven't smoked (boak) and how much money I'm saving Smile

magimedi · 11/10/2015 09:31

Huge congratulations to all of you!

Totallyoutoforder · 12/10/2015 10:49

Space bravo ! You did it !
This week for me will be a challenging one but I must go through it.

magimedi · 12/10/2015 22:36

I'm nearly 3 years into vaping & not smoking. The kick start for me was yet another cold which went straight to my chest & resulted (as ever) in a really nasty infection that took antibiotics & 6 weeks to clear.

Since I've been fag free any cold I've had (and I seem to have caught far fewer) has cleared up within a week & been so much less awful.

Just another thing for all you amazing early days quitters to hold on to.

Keep on counting those fags you haven't smoked.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 13/10/2015 08:20

I'm sure you've done 3 years already, magi! IIRC your vapeversary is the same day as mine but a year ahead - October 2nd Flowers

YY to colds clearing quicker. I've just had a cold and I did get a bit of phlegm on my chest but it was gone in two days instead of two months.

You're all doing incredibly well Star

magimedi · 13/10/2015 08:36

19th October is my date, Plenty.

Still got the head cold bit but no trace of chest infection which is great.

Carry on, all you quitters.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 13/10/2015 08:43

Oh that's odd Blush ... I wonder who else was 2nd? Somebody definitely was.

magimedi · 13/10/2015 08:46

Was it Allergic? - Who I haven't 'seen' for ages. Maybe she name changed post Jeffery?

Allergictoironing · 13/10/2015 11:28

I is here ladies - just couldn't be naffed to reset my password post Jeffrey.

My date was 10 Feb - passed my 18 months without even noticing! I used to get the most dreadful colds and they aren't anywhere near as bad these days Grin

magimedi · 13/10/2015 11:38

Waves to Allergic. How's things?

BTW there is a MN meet up in London - probably 14th Nov for pub lunchtime Wine

I went last year & had an amazing time. It was my first ever MN meet & it was great & not at all scary.

Am going again this year - anyone else going to come?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 13/10/2015 19:04

Hello Allergic! Well done on 18 months Star

space21 · 14/10/2015 20:02

It'll be two weeks for me tomorrow! Yay Grin

I actually have a cold at the mo and I won't miss the annual bronchitis at all.

Keep going!!!

Allergictoironing · 14/10/2015 22:28

The other interesting thing I noticed was that last year I didn't get flu at all, and the year before when I was dual fuelling but mostly vaping it only lasted a few days. That may just be coincidence, but if I don't get 2 weeks of bedridden horror wanting to die this year, I will put that down to vaping as well Grin

scribblegirl · 15/10/2015 14:38

Two weeks smoke free Grin! Well done space! Same here, feeling pretty chuffed. Daytime cravings are mostly gone, although had a massive craving yesterday when I made a balls up at work.... Still feeling a bit antsy if I have a glass of wine but I went out last Friday with some friends (mixed group of smokers/non smokers) and managed to stay at the table with the non-smokers whilst the others went outside. I imagine it helped that DH was across the table watching like a hawk encouraging me Wink.

Beginning to think I could really kick this properly.

space21 · 17/10/2015 17:26

That's great. How's everyone doing today?
I went out last night to a pub on a boat and loads of smokers and smoke. I enjoyed the passive smoking for a few minutes and had a huuuuuuuuge craving. But after a bit it started to stink and get on my nerves. Had to air my coat today!!
I think my sense of smell may have returned Shock

space21 · 23/10/2015 21:39

Anyone still doing this?
