Stoptober... Anyone?

Thought a support/distraction thread might be a good idea?

I'm trying to switch to vaping... have lovely coffee flavoured liquid. Also vape inside but smoke outside - as the nights are drawing in and getting colder it really feels like time to start vaping only, inside in the warm! although may require a blizzard to actually drive me inside away from the ciggies

Anyone else looking to take the first step of Stoptober? Smile

Moogles, you are doing really well. Allen Carr is right about the fact that smoking does not really bring any pleasure actually. And especially when with non smoker friends, disappearing for a sneaky fag cut short a potentially nice conversation !
I am not bad actually. It feels easier that I had thought. Another smoke free day to all of us.
Have a conjunctivitis this morning.

Mooogles · 06/10/2015 10:28

Tarrarra, I had mouth ulcers a few months ago and used corsodyl which was very effective.

Totally, is the day 3 for you?

For those that are a few days 'behind' me, I want to say that each day is getting so much easier for me now, so stick with it. I feel ridiculously proud of myself although it is probably far too early to be thinking that!

Oops, issue posting from my phone...

Mooogles · 06/10/2015 11:27

Meant to say re treats, I am having a facial on Sunday! Will have saved £70 or £80 by then I think Smile

Totallyoutoforder · 06/10/2015 12:00

Yeah to treats, Moogles ! Facial will make your skin look so much nicer, esp with less nicotine in your body ! You should be proud rightly, you are on the path of freedom.... ??????
It is only day 3 for me. Probably £15 saved ! It does get easier. Thank you for that, Moogles.

I'm treating myself to a spa day when I hit the 8 week mark Tarrarra - just 10 days to go!!

Facial, spa, oh I do like the idea.... Carry on, carry on. Day 3. Still new but less craving, which is good.

Totallyoutoforder · 07/10/2015 14:25

Have not had a chance to think about smoking. DC has headlice. Spent all morning getting rid of it in hair and washing bedsheets etc....
Day 4 in 2.35h !!!!

Mooogles · 07/10/2015 14:37

Well it was all going so well. Had wine and smoked last night. Really really kicking myself. Anyway, back off the fags today, hopefully that is my last time Sad

space21 · 07/10/2015 14:41

I'm on day 7 and cannot shake a really bad constant headache.
Anyone else having withdrawal symptoms?

Tarrarra · 07/10/2015 18:53

Mooogles, don't beat yourself up, it's hard and at least you've not caved in completely. The facial sounds like just the ticket.

space21, drink loads of water. Nicotine withdrawal is a bugger.

Liking the sound of all the treats. The spa day sounds a fab idea Welshmaenad. I think I will stick to weekly treats for the first few weeks then build up to a big treat!

Totallyoutoforder, sorry about the nits.. still, at least they were a distraction!

Day 7, one whole week. I can't quite believe I have done this.... GO ME! Smile

space21 · 07/10/2015 20:40

Brilliant Tarrarra!!
I'm so determined this time too. I love how clean my teeth feel and I have sauna and steam on Friday.
What treat are you having??

Mooogles · 07/10/2015 21:39

That's fantastic tarrarra! Well done.

I didn't smoke today ... Just going to put last night behind me and move onwards and upwards!

Totallyoutoforder · 08/10/2015 09:20

I gave in last night too Moogles. By habit rather than craving. Back to squqre one but I feel it is easier than I expected. We will make it.
Can't wait to hear about the treats you all will have very soon. Something really nice to look forward to.

Mooogles · 08/10/2015 11:04

Are you back on the wagon today totally? I am now on day 2.. Haven't reset my app tho which telling me I have done a week now...

I am away this weekend with a non-smoking friend so I am hoping that will be quite easy, although there may be some wine involved which is always risky..

Totallyoutoforder · 08/10/2015 13:37

I am back indeed Moogles. not quite 24h yet as I had the fag at 10pm.... But I am fine today. No real craving. So far. I am more at risk when there is nobody around. Opposite to you, day time is more dangerous than late afternoon or evening !

elementofsurprise · 08/10/2015 13:53

space Aha! Hadn't put two and two together about the headache... still having night sweats, tossing and turning with bad dreams, feeling stressed and lethargic all day... six days now.

Someone wafted a cig in my face (accidentally) last night and it went up my nostrils and mmmmmmmmmmmm. Had to keep telling myself it was only the addiction speaking and really there was nothing pleasant about smoking... Though I think my friends would actually pin me down and prevent me from smoking if I tried now! - and they are smokers themselves. Looking for 0% vape liquid now...

Well done everyone - moogles and out of order, just a slip, you can do this!

I would really recommend the Allen Carr book (oh noooo I've turned into a preachy convert) because it's so repetitive, sentences/concepts get stuck in your head and pop up at the crucial times. Eg. each craving is caused by the last cig, there's nothing pleasant about smoking except feeding the addiction... etc. When your body is saying "smoke!" it helps the mind to cling to the logical reasons not to.

I've dug out my old copy of Paul McKenna's Stop Smoking CD and it sent me to sleep. I can't find my copy of Allen Carr, though I know I've read the first few chapters at least twice!!! I will find it, if nothing else it will keep me busy!

I seem to find it harder as the days go on. I really feel that I have only half cracked it as I am vaping though... even though it's low nicotine, it's not 0%! Mine are the Phoenix ecigs, and I know they do a 0% so I will pop into town and get some at the weekend. Finding the menthol flavour best, some of the others are a bit sickly....

I had reflexology today and that really helped with the stressiness. I am going to have a facial next week if I make it through another week.

WELL DONE ALL OF US... WE ROCK Smile

elementofsurprise · 09/10/2015 13:06

Has anyone else found they have... er... ... um increased libido? Might be coincidental - I'm single so it's not massively welcome but anyway..! Grin

Element ?????????? my DP will love that, actually I find myself less disgusting to kiss as I (hope I) don't stink cold smoke smell anymore, he is a non smoker and I have always been aware of how yuk/berk/disgusting it must be !!!

Totallyoutoforder · 09/10/2015 21:25

Why are my smiley faces become question marks ?
I wanted to say Grin Star Wink to Element

space21 · 10/10/2015 10:39

Element Grin

I want to kiss my husband and it feels ace not to be stinky anymore. If I get to one month I'm treating myself to some new perfume.

Finally I'm starting to feel less ill with withdrawal symptoms. Taken 10 days wow. I plan to have a glass of good red wine tonight - that's a test!! Wish me luck. ??

How's everyone doing?

space21 · 10/10/2015 10:40

Wine not ??
