Linky

the conclusion of Professor John Britton’s 2014 review for PHE, that while vaping may not be 100% safe, most of the chemicals causing smoking-related disease are absent and the chemicals present pose limited danger, remains valid. The current best estimate is that e-cigarette use is around 95% less harmful to health than smoking

e-cigarettes release negligible levels of nicotine into ambient air with no identified health risks to bystanders

Quite encouraging, no?

Thanks to Jeffrey I found time to read some big chunks of this report. It's fucking dynamite Grin

  • They criticise the MHRA for having too stringent requirements for medicinal regulation
  • They point out in numerous places the glaring flaws in the TPD
  • they demolish the whole concept of 'gateway effect' and show that even if it was a proper thing as popularly understood, it's not happening
  • lots of other good stuff

If anybody has time I would recommend a read - it's a lot of pages but not too technical. I think the effects of this report will be making waves through public health over the coming months.

I'd just screwed my new vape thingy together then saw the thread title and my heart sank. Glad it's positive news!
