17 hours since my last cig. Im doing okay right now. Eating way more than I normally do but I expected that. But what else can I expect from quitting? I heard a bad chest and cough? What else is there? Thank you.

Well done Mamma.

Do try to drink plenty of water to flush things out of your system & can also help to stop you eating as much.

Your teeth will get white again, you and your house will smell lovely, you'll have more money in your pocket, you'll wish you'd done it years ago! Well done.

How's it going?

Walking helps. If you can, go for a 5 minute brisk walk when you're craving - preferably not past fag shops! The cravings only last a few minutes so this fills the time until they're gone. Also if you walk fast enough to get slightly breathless you won't fancy one and it can help to clear any clag you have on your chest.

Hi OP, well done and good luck with quitting.

Bleeding gums doesn't always mean you have gum disease so don't worry if it happens just speak to your dentist, it's usually due to smokers hardened gums softening again as they return to normal. Smoking can mask other problems though.

I have been quit for 12 months at the end of this month and had many side effects (insomnia, increased appetite & weight gain, cough & catarrh, bleeding gums and probably some I have forgotten) BUT I no longer get breathless, I don't stink like an ashtray, have an increased sense of smell but not taste and more energy, which has resulted in more exercise and I have now lost weight! Nicer skin, hair and nails and the money saved has been put towards a cruise later this year! Grin

Yes it's hard but it's worth it for the benefits.

Possible spots. I had that, but didn't last long. Bleeding gums also, but that is them softening as the smoking hardens the gums so when you stop hey start to soften.

First of all you rediscover your sense of smell! Then you discover that you start to smell nice. I developed a liking for new tastes food wise too.

Your lungs feel bigger, you have more energy, your skin looks nicer and you have more money (once you stop compulsively buying vape kit!)

Your house smells nicer, your clothes smell fresher and you just feel cleaner.

I had bleeding gums for a bit, but a visit to the hygienist and regular flossing sorted that.

I haven't noticed a single negative thing about switching from cigs to vaping!
