Anyone else being a March quitter?

Hey all,
Just wondered if anyone else was attempting to quit this month and fancied buddying up for a bit of moral support. Im currently one day down, going for the cold turkey method although I do have an inhalator on standby for emergencies!

I'm in! Gave up a year ago after smoking on and off for far too many years. Stupidly had 'just one ' in October and that was it. I only smoke a few a day but hate how it dictates my life, break at work, coffee, fag ...and I stink!
Going cold turkey too!
Last time I found it helped to focus on the craving and wait for it to pass rather than ignore it, then you don't get that 'missing out on something feeling'

Hello! May I join you? Last had a ciggie yesterday, still have some tobacco left but am so fed up with the smell and the horrible feeling of tartar on the back of my teeth that I don't want to smoke any more of it! I can't go completely cold turkey though; have tried numerous times before and last only a few days before I crumble. So I'm joining the vaping set. Quite like it now I've got the hang of it!

Nice to meet you all; how have you been getting on?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 16/03/2015 19:59

Good luck everyone Flowers

Keep counting the fags you don't smoke!

Babs10 · 17/03/2015 18:25

I stopped last night and today has been torture!!! Any help would be appreciated!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 17/03/2015 21:30

You're doing brilliantly Babs! Only a few days and you're through the worst. Be really kind to yourself (lots of chocolate, baths, telly ...)

  • Get the Allen Carr book
  • Make a GP appt. and ask for a referral to stop smoking services - don't be fobbed off with GP care. You can also refer yourself
  • if you find yourself about to buy fags buy NRT instead
  • count the fags you don't smoke and put the money in a jar - watch it mount up

So it's day 2 of no smoking....feeling better today and not had as much cravings but would still like to have a "sneaky" one!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 18/03/2015 19:55

Well done crying Smile

In the past I have found going for a short walk when you're craving helps a lot (not past a shop though!) 5 or 10 minutes of brisk walking passes the time until the craving goes, and leaves you slightly out of breath and glowing so you don't want one. Also it helps clear any clag you might have on your lungs.
