I think I'll give them a call later to make sure that they are reasonably up to date with the data they use as a basis for their study - last couple of surveys I did seemed to think that everyone still used 1st generation cigalikes.

The study doesn't actually use survey questions, but a set of items developed after extensively reading the literature and threads like the Vipers on MN. I would hope it does reflect what vapers are currently saying about vaping, but also you get to comment yourself, as much as you like, so if you did feel anything didn't reflect your own experience, you would have plenty of space to say this and this would be an important part of the data. There is also a free response section on policy- so again, plenty of scope for putting your own opinion.

This study is only looking at vapers' perceptions of vaping/e-cigarettes, so much of the public health response has been from people who don't use them- so this is an attempt to perhaps redress that balance.

Hi Vapingresearch. That all sounds excellent and much more advanced than the other surveys I've taken part in. The fact that you've read stuff posted by vapers rather than just picking up info from newspaper articles puts you ahead of the others. The Vipers threads are part of what got me thinking about vaping, tbh, I kept seeing them pop up when they used to be in AIBU and wondered where they had gone, I didn't realise til a day or two ago there was now a Stop Smoking topic (duh)!

I'd offer to get involved but I'm hardly vaping at all now. Swapped cigs for ELites in January and seem to have just weaned myself off... Have the occasional puff with a drink but that's a rarity. But if I can be of any help let me know

ohbladee- that's an interesting question, I would say if you using them less than once a month, probably not, if once a week, yes, join in. Some of the items are probably related to current vaping use.

In the future, I'd like to do work with different groups- so people who have tried it and don't like it, people who have quit through vaping, people who vape over long time periods not intending to quit and so on. I'm not able to do that right now so am just focusing on current vapers.

Hi all- thanks to all those who have returned their packs! I've emailed everyone today to say that I ordered a job lot of Boots vouchers yesterday, so once your pack comes back, I'll be sending those out. If you haven't yet sent yours back, but would still like to take part, no worries, just complete the task and fill in the questionnaire and return.

It is a bit longer than your typical quick tick survey and that's why I'm offering the voucher!

Also- as I said in the email, I am desperate to get some more MEN into the study. If you know any men who vape (friend, colleague, partner or husband, relative) then do pass on the email [email protected], the more the merrier.

I am still including women in the study, just trying to balance the numbers a bit.
