Sentinel v4 mod not working

Just started vaping. OH has been for about 6 weeks. Bought OH a sentinel v4 mod with protank 3 but it's not working. It just doesn't fire up. Any ideas what's wrong?

Hahaha stealth boast or what Grin

It's basically a very posh metal tube that connects a battery to a clearomiser. There's not that much that can go wrong with them. It will have a loose connection somewhere, probably.

Things to check (some of these are real numpty suggestions):

  • is the locking ring on? Can you definitely depress the firing button?
  • Is the battery definitely charged? Have you tried another battery?
  • Does the protank 3 work on other batteries?
  • is everything screwed down tight so that the battery is making proper contact top and bottom? Does it rattle in the tube?
  • is the connection with the tank tightened up enough to make a good contact?
  • are all the contacts clean? give them a wipe with a bit of leftover cheap vodka (Grin)

If all the above fail you may have to venture onto a willywaving specialist vaping forum I'm afraid.

Well done both of you for making the switch Flowers

It wasn't meant to be stealth boasty Shock. I'm a minimum wager. It's a birthday present (and we'll live off toast the rest of the month. Worth it to be off the smokes!).

Yes the button presses down so don't think it's the ring thing. Tried other batteries, protank works with other batteries, tried it with protank 2 as well. Cleaned everything.

Only thing that works is taking a wee pin thing out and putting it upside down but worried about leaking. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to all this.

They do frequently go hand-in-hand with RBAs because you can use them to sub-ohm, which you can't on a VV/VW or an ego. It should work fine with a tank though, lots of people use them together. It's just a big 3.7V battery in a rather lovely metal tube Smile

I think there are tinkery things you can do with the contact pins and firing button to get a better connection. Something to do with magnets as well. Also some mods work better with flat top batteries or with nipple top batteries or something ... probably best asking on a proper vaping forum Grin

Thanks very much plenty. I think it was just a problem with the centre pin. Has been working with no issues now. Have had a look on vaping forums but some of the techno jargon is scary. Much still to learn Grin I'm using the protank on a ego battery and it's lovely. But I bought red bull flavour juice and it's a bit overpowering! Need to find a nice flavour now.

Yes, like an unregulated ego. They start at about 4.2 when fully charged then for most of the battery's life they hover around 3.7 before tailing off to around 3.3, at which point they need recharging. The way to vary the wattage is to use different resistance (ohms) coils.

Yes Lager I think most of us here find the proper vaping forums a bit willy waving intimidating Grin
