Hi all
Iv been stopping smoking for weeks!..
1st thing to send me back to them was miscarriage..
After all that was out the way with and getting back on track with life, I went back to work which was my next thing to cave me..
I really want to stop NOW!
I used patches a few times but they irritate and hardly stick properly . I have also used the cools lozenges but they are foul and have been giving me a sore throat.
Anyone got any advice for me and encouragement?

Hi Anon24. So sorry to hear about your miscarriage Sad.

The 2 methods that seem to have worked best for people here are the Allen Carr book, and vaping (electronic cigarettes).

From what I can gather the Allen Carr book is excellent provided you really genuinely deep down inside want to give up smoking and a number of people have posted in this topic to say how brilliantly well it worked for them. It didn't work for me because though I knew I needed to give up for a number of reasons, I didn't really want to all that much.

Vaping could be looked on as a sort of half way house in that you still have the habit & the nicotine intake, but have got rid of the hazardous elements of smoking, got rid of the smell & muck, & it costs MUCH less.

I think probably the first thing you need to do is to examine your reasons for wanting to give up. If you are heartily sick of having any form of habit or addiction, and hate yourself for every cigarette you smoke, then Allen Carr is the way to go. If you just want to avoid the health risks and anti-social aspects, and/or save money, then maybe vaping is the way for you to go.

On the encouragement side, you'll find people all over this topic saying how happy they are to have given up smoking. As someone who smoked for almost 40 years, 30 a day the last few years of that, I have noticed that since swapping smoking for vaping my skin & hair are better, I breathe better, don't get as many colds, I don't stink, my house doesn't stink, my sense of smell & taste have improved, I have more energy. And a LOT more money!

Whatever method you decide to try, keep posting on here & you'll get plenty of encouragement and no judgypants Wink

Wot she said ^^

A decent ecig has made me relapse proof, it's a revelation after 30 years of smoking. Allen Carr is the way to go if you want totally rid of the habit and not just the harmful effects.

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Be kind to yourself and good luck Flowers
