I am desparate to stop smoking and want to try vaping. I tried Champix a few weeks ago but it made me feel so sick I stopped taking the tablets.

Anyway, I am quite a heavy smoker - 25 per day. I tried one of those e-cigs that look like a cig and it was useless. I keep reading how fantastic these vaping cigs are so I am going to buy one.

Could any of you help me - what should I get as a starter kit? And as for liquid, I need a tobacco one to start with but what strength? And how long does the liquid last?

Sorry for all the questions but there isn't a shop near me so need to order online and haven't a clue where to start!

Hellooo! Yes the cig-alikes are crap, I failed dismally with one of those many months ago.

For kit, I usually point new vapers to the Evod starter kit from My epack - it has two of everything (which you will need) and a load of spare coil heads which should keep you going for months.

If you don't want to spend that much, these are very good for the price - get two though as you will need two batteries.

WRT liquid, the first thing to say is you won't find anything that tastes much like a lit fag. There are a couple of quite nice 'tobacco-esque' flavours around. I mostly vape RY4 which is a very popular flavour, kind of tobacco + caramel + vanilla, with a splosh of RY6 in it (this is quite hefty on its own - a bit like gauloises). Someone else on here swears by The Sherlock but I find it a bit too sweet. You might also want to try a menthol, lots of people get on with that as a starter juice, even if they didn't like menthol fags.

You will probably try lots of different flavours at the beginning so don't buy more than 10ml of something until you are sure you like it. Strength-wise, most 15-20 a day smokers do ok on 18mg to start with, you might be ok on that or you might be better on 24mg. If you can, get some of each and see which suits you best.

I think most of us seem to get through about 20ml/week but it's likely to be a bit higher when you first start.

Good luck and do come back and ask as many questions as you want - no question is too stupid Grin

Hi Plenty Smile thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

What are the coil heads for and what are the clearomizers? I have no idea!!

I want a tobacco flavour liquid I think to start with, I am thinking it will make it a bit easier for me. I will follow what you said and try the 24mg first, but I will also get some of the 18mg too.

Do you mix the liquid together and pour it in the vaper cig?

I really am clueless aren't I!

The clearomiser is the part that holds the liquid. Inside it is the coil head - a small metal thing with a wick and coil inside. This is what heats the liquid. The coil head will need changing after a week or two.

The liquids come in a squeezy bottle, you squirt it into the clearomiser. You don't have to mix them, although you can if you find somewhere between 18 and 24 is the right strength for you.

This will all make a lot more sense when you have the kit in your hand, I promise! Let us know what you get and we can point you at some youtube videos.

Go for it! I am now 20 months cig free (after nearly 40 years of smoking).

I never thought it could be so easy. I feel so much better, can do so much more, have started exercising properly & have dropped a size in the last 6/9 months.

I would also say that if you have a local vape shop go & see them. You may pay a little more for stuff but the help they will give you will be amazing. Even if you already have the kit go & get a couple of bottles of liquid from them. Most shops let you sample a few liquids & will also show you how to change your coil etc.
