I only smoke tobacco these days when I've had a few drinks. Which is hardly ever these days.

but as the infrequency only goes to heighten how stinky and antisocial real fags are, I've done some advance planning after taking your splendid advice and invested in one of these starter kits

I have a party at the weekend where I will undoubtedly get a bit pished and require nicotine. So kit has arrived, I've filled the wick sections with the juice (pina colada and vanilla menthol) and.. ermm...

How do I use the things? Do I have to press the button while I inhale to get a hit? Should there be water vapour coming out? what do all the different colours mean when I press the button?

Because I'm sucking away on this thing to check it's working and nothing is happening.

Blush

I've charged the battery for a while and it's showing green, so what am I doing wrong??

Sorry if this is totally obvious. I've tried googling and youtubing...

Heh no question is too basic for here - we all had to start once Smile.

If there is a button on the battery part then yes, you need to hold this in while drawing on the mouthpiece. This button will light up on most brands while you are holding it down, usually a white or blue colour though again this is dependant on make. After 10 secs of holding it down this button will probably start to flash & it will have stopped heating the coil - this is a safety feature.

Depending on set up, you may get a faint sound from the clearo (tank part) when you hold the button down, this is normal so don't worry.

When you first draw on your nice new e-cig, don't drag hard like you would on a real cigarette! You need to develop a technique that is much gentler than before, or you'll end up coughing badly - start with barely more than breathing in (while holding the button down of course).

AHA! Yes, I've got it. Ooh, how lovely. Thank you.

Although I don't usually smoke while sober so I'm now buzzing off my practice hit.

Now as long as I can remember how to do that after a couple of G&Ts..

:)

Make sure you take some spare juice with you - that kit comes with the iclear16 which is a lovely vape but gets through a lot of juice.

With mine you need to charge it until the green light turns off. Apparently you shouldn't leave them charging over night though because they can overheat.
I've been using an e-cig for a few months now and have found it brilliant for helping to stop smoking.

Enjoy, Ewan. Good luck!
