I'm hoping some of our most knowledgeable vapers are going to start threads about specific aspects of vaping.

Plenty, how do you find this stuff?! I think it was probably the attempted gagging of vapers with criticisms of his stuff. Utterly stupid of him, but he doesn't sound like the most hinged person in the world. The sad face is an excellent one, not that he deserved to be attacked, and I hope they get the slimeballs who did it.

TW has the money and industry clout and expertise to mount a pretty good resistance to silly legislation though.

They do have lots of money and industry clout. I can't help feeling that what's needed right now is diplomacy and PR and I think that's something they struggle with. They could be good if it ever came to legal challenges though.

I have to go to the dentist tomorrow morning. I have ruined my teeth and gums through smoking and haven't had a checkup in far too long. Am absolutely dreading it (am fearing I'll have to have multiple teeth extracted or that I'll be asked to be the next model for the scary fag packet warning photos) but at least I can tell him that I no longer smoke.

Has anyone's skin gone shite since stopping smoking? I've not had so many spots since I was a teenager ( long time ago! ). I even have spots on my neck......

Raia - my teeth have got so much whiter in the 19 months since I've stopped. Mind you, I had to go to the dentist this am as had a sore tooth all last week. That tooth is now gone. Luckily a very back one.

Perihelion Yes, I went through a phase of bad skin, but in the last 6 months or so it's gone back to being OK.

Shona that's brilliant! Especially well done considering all the aggro you've had with equipment.

Well done Raia too My teeth are totally fucked. I had to have half of them out before I stopped smoking. My gums are slowly getting better and with a bit of luck I won't lose any more. If you have to have a load out and you're very nervous find somewhere that does sedation - it's the bollox

Perihelion, yes spots are normal when you stop smoking. Mine have calmed down now but hair and skin are both still oilier than they were when I smoked. At my age that's probably supposed to be a good thing but I don't like it.

Um how long were your shite skin phases? I thought I'd be fabulous and glowing, not spotty......

Also im getting my first fluey cold since stopping smoking so the test will be how long it hangs around for... im also trying out the vape menthol thing someone mentioned see if that helps.

Raia on the dentist situ I went for the first time in ten years last year and I HAD a massive fear of them but I think the fear was also embaressment for the state of my teeth. But apparently they weren't that bad! Fair enough I had to have three out but they were causing me absolute agony and now they are gone its all good.

When u go just keep in mind they will have seen teeth FAR worse than yours!

Raia Don't be silly! There isn't much of the Swedish fish in there and it makes up for me taking so long hopefully!

Just want to thank you Plenty and OohQuack for the words of encouragement about this dreaded dentist appointment (it's at 10 o'clock, aargh) - you've really bolstered my confidence and I'm sort of looking forward to it in that I REALLY want to sort my teeth out. It'll be a huge weight off my shoulders and I think I'll be fine once I've got this first appointment out of the way (yep, very much feeling ashamed and embarrassed at the state i've let my teeth and gums get into ). Have taken half a valium to take the edge of the anxiety ...

Quack, hope that cold clears up quickly! I've noticed already that I seem to heal better from things since stopping smoking (eg spots don't hang about for weeks any more).

Schro, the pina colada does deliver a big throat hit doesn't it? I think that's why I like it

Apologies for going on about my teeth: just wanted to give a quick update. As expected gums are fucked - will be seeing the hygienist at least twice a year and following whatever regimen she/he gives me. Have to have one back tooth out, a root canal filling and two regular fillings. Dreading the root canal treatment: I'm tempted to tell him just to take it out This is what smoking has done to me! I feel like such an idiot! Still, not as bad as I feared. I'm sure if this was the 70s they would just whip the lot out and be done with it

I started vaping, thanks to all of you lovely people on these threads, 6 days ago.

I've been a 20 a day smoker for the best part of 18 years, I managed to stop completley when I was pregnant but it never lasted afterwards IYSWIM.

So anyway I've been following these threads for a while, took the plunge and....it's been pretty much ok.

I didnt think it would work tbh and I have to be honest and say I am still smoking 2 actual cigarettes a day, first thing in the morning and after my dinner but that's it.

So thank you everyone.

Poor you Raia but well done for going. Dentist told me my teeth were 'absolutely fine' just very stained and, sadly, dropping out of the rubbishy gums.

Tantrum Well done! I 'dual fuelled @ for the first week or so & then just decided the fags could go.

I was worried that not having my first fag & coffee would upset my bowels (ie wouldn't shit!) but a vape does exactly the same as a smoke!!
