Hooray to getting our own space (within giving up smoking).

Flowers & Wine (gin) to MNHQ for giving us this space.

I'm hoping some of our most knowledgeable vapers are going to start threads about specific aspects of vaping.

Yay well done Mrs, that's great progress!

The first vape of the day is still a little harsh and tentative after 7 months for me. It goes after a couple of puffs though.

If it's really bad you might want to switch to a VG based liquid as they are easier on the throat.

Allergictoironing · 07/05/2014 08:35

Mrsjayy it took me over a month to lose my last 2 fags - first one in the morning & last thing at night. Everyone switches over at a different rate - some can switch immediately and some "dual fuel" for months. The important thing is not going backwards; keep counting the fags you haven't smoked rather than those you have.

Mrsjayy · 07/05/2014 08:39

yeah that is what i am going to do and not beat myself up about the morning fag

magimedi · 07/05/2014 08:56

It took me a week to switch & the first fag of the day was the last one to go.

Think of all the stinkys you aren't smoking.

Walking through town today on the hunt for liquid shops none to be found in leicester I realised that the wiff of tobacco on people clothes as they walked past made me curl my nose.... they do say ex-smokers are the worst judges :-D

magimedi · 07/05/2014 15:51

Found one here, for you Quack

I'm not being arsey, it's just I'd have never got going with vaping without the help & patience of my local shop. They really are worth supporting, if you can.

I had to do without a liquid shop for a while at first, but got so much help and encouragement and i formation from people here, including Magi, Allergic, Plenty and so many others.

Quack, re your light problem. I did see a battery that incorporated a torch, somewhere! probably FastTech. That'll solve it. So would a small lamp nearby or a standard lamp behind your seat Wink

FanFuckingTastic · 07/05/2014 18:15

Hello. To the lady in Leicester, I found a shop on my way to the train station.

Bought myself an Aspire BDC to go on my VIP battery, was a bit worried it wouldn't work, but it seems fine. Made the guy prove it in the shop first before I bought it.

Just wondering if anyone has used this type of top before, it's bottom loading, so I have to unscrew the filter at the bottom to fill it. Apparently I can also replace them when they stop working instead of the whole thing. So I am hoping it was a good choice.

ginmakesitallok · 07/05/2014 18:17

I use a vapeonly bdc which I think is the same as the aspire? I love it, Bern using then for a few months now.

ginmakesitallok · 07/05/2014 18:19

Oh and I replace my heads every 2 weeks or so, bit of a pain that you can't dry burn them, but at a tenner for 5 works out about £1 a week

OohQuack · 07/05/2014 19:14

Ugh fan I walked most of the way up there today in search of it because id heared it mentioned but didn't go past cex I should have now dammit.

Magi I looked for the stall you mentioned today but there was a handbag stand there instead, so ive messaged them to find out where theyve gone.

I think I may have to put the light on to sort out my lazy can't see through the tube issues!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 07/05/2014 20:18

Evening all Smile

I still haven't visited my new local vape shop in Greenwich. I was going to go a couple of weeks ago with a vaping colleague but she couldn't make it in the end. I'll make it my mission to visit this weekend. I'm a bit daunted - they have some very shiney and expensive kit in the window (from what I could see whizzing past on the bus) ... and I'm trying not to spend anything for a while, I have a good 6 month's supply of liquids and a stupid number of batteries and clearos.

Do you think they'd appreciate a purely social visit?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 07/05/2014 20:25

We've had our first gripes about this stop smoking topic in the 'vaping in legoland' thread in chat Sad

I can't decide whether I have the energy to rejoin the fray. I quite wore myself out yesterday trying to explain what vaping is about to some really quite anti people. The general feeling seems to be that we're having far too much fun.

OohQuack · 07/05/2014 20:39

Ooh going for a read!

YesJesseARobot · 07/05/2014 20:49

I was quite tempted to link that Daily Mash article Hmm

How dare we improve our health outcomes and be interested in something new?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 07/05/2014 20:53

Well I've attempted to pour oil on water here

That Daily mash article kind of needs posting too though Grin

Perihelion · 08/05/2014 01:10

Plenty I salute your input on the Legoland thread......
(I wonder if breathing outside on a cold day should also be banned as it looks a bit like smoking Grin )

TarpalCunnel · 08/05/2014 06:42

Hi everyone, hope there is room for one more Grin

I gave up smoking 2 weeks ago, which has been a bit achievement for me. My last ciggie was after 3 glasses of wine..normally Id have 4 or 5 on a drinking night, but I was strict with myself and allowed myself just one. Ive been smoke-free since, but I haven't had a drink either.
To those of you who vape, do you still crave a ciggie with a drink, or is vaping enough?

Im a complete novice but Im planning on going out for drinks this weekend & Im worried I might start craving a cig Sad

Allergictoironing · 08/05/2014 07:37

Morning Tarpal. Congratulations on giving up, especially as it appears you've gone "cold turkey"!

Smoking is a complex addiction - it isn't just the nicotine but the hand to mouth habit, the rituals, the times you always had a cigarette etc. that can be as hard if not harder to break than the nicotine part. I took weeks to lose the last 2 cigarettes which was purely in the mind & nothing to do with nicotine addiction. And I still find now the thought drifting into my mind that I'd quite fancy a ciggy even though it's been nearly 3 months for me without one and it would probably taste vile.

So your fear is reasonable, especially if the people you are going out with smoke too; I could virtually guarantee you'll be a bit tempted especially as it's only been 2 weeks.

There's a couple of ways you could cope with this. You could avoid going out drinking especially with smoking friends for a bit longer, until you're sure you've broken the habit. You could go with the self control method; if you do this make sure you tell your mates that under no circumstances should they offer you a cig or even a draw on one, or invite you to stand with them when they go outside. Or you could think about buying a zero nicotine disposable e-cig so if the habit part gets almost unbearable then you can use that without reinforcing the old nicotine addiction.

Stay strong and good luck. I tried every other method to give up & failed every time, so I have the utmost respect for anyone who managed to give up without the on-going help of vaping Smile Thanks

Raia · 08/05/2014 08:59

Just looked at the Legoland thread: I salute you too Plenty, the voice of reason Wine

YesJesseARobot · 08/05/2014 10:14

Fantastic work, Plenty Thanks

Carpal, I had a horrendous year last year - the worst of my life, and found myself drinking far too much almost every night at home. I was also a forty a day smoker. Despite this, I found that vaping was just as good a way to give me my hit even after a few too many.

I've since given up alcohol altogether but if you have a couple of flavours to hand at a suitable strength and a few strategies in place such as those allergic suggests, then you should be fine. If I found vaping sufficient given my intake, Blush then most people should.

YesJesseARobot · 08/05/2014 10:15

*Tarpal

And well done! Grin

YesJesseARobot · 08/05/2014 10:23

Oh God, complete reading post fail. I assumed you were vaping. Ignore me!

Raia · 08/05/2014 10:33

I meant to offer my congratulations as well Tarpal - well done and good luck with the night out Smile

Anyone else having vivid dreams since giving up stinkies/starting vaping? I didn't used to dream like I do now. I woke myself up laughing this morning after Phil Mitchell turned up in my dream as a French fishmonger (but speaking French really badly, eg "poy-sonz" for fish lol)

MistressDeeCee · 08/05/2014 15:47

Ohhh - there you all are! So the dedicated space did happen Smile the threads are so good for support.

I started vaping last year and apart from the odd sneaky cig here & there (once a week mostly but Ive minimised even that lately) then Im happy with vaping. Much prefer it to real cigs, and the good benefits re. health & more money in my pocket!

So..I have a question re. EGO CE4 batteries. I dont have a dedicated place where I buy, but a couple I have bought, the casing has broken quite quickly. I don't have loads of cash to spare at present - does anyone know where I can buy a sturdy battery at aa (very) reasonable price, preferably 900mah or above? Looked at some on Amazon but its difficult as the reviews on items are so mixed I can't really tell whats going on. Or if anyone buys from Amazon or Ebay have you bought one thats lasted the course? How long should they last anyway? or is it a case of handling with very delicate care?

Any advice appreciated thanks
