Hooray to getting our own space (within giving up smoking).

Flowers & Wine (gin) to MNHQ for giving us this space.

I'm hoping some of our most knowledgeable vapers are going to start threads about specific aspects of vaping.

I get through 10ml (12%) in just under a week.

11% is quite a low nicotine to be starting on - most people who smoked 20 stinkys a day start on 18% & then drop. I dropped to 12% after about 9 months.

Allergic I feel your pain t the spinner. I got a new spinner 2 not long ago and it's a nightmare to charge, goes green after a couple of hours then I have to switch power on and off and it'll charge again for a few hours, then repeat. Pain in the bum!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 03/10/2014 20:04

Well done Chocolate! That's a tiny amount of nicotine for a new quitter though. I'm still on 18mg after a year (used to smoke 15 rollies a day) and have no intention of cutting it down any time soon. I get through about 3ml a day - it used to be 2ml until I learnt to make better coils Grin

Allergictoironing · 03/10/2014 20:33

Letthemtalk the Spinner 2 is fine, just takes ages & ages to charge! It was an original type spinner I was having all the charging problems with.

I found it interesting that the vendor accepted my return within 5 minutes of me submitting it - no questions, no checking I was doing the right thing, nothing; just "OK must be a faulty one". I get the feeling it was one of the "Spinner STYLE" that you can get from Fasttech for about $10 despite his advert saying "Genuine". That's one vendor I won't be buying from ever again Angry

anyoldname76 · 04/10/2014 08:26

Hi all, I had my last rollie 3 weeks ago today and have been using an ecig ever since. I love it, I tried to give up last year using patches and failed. My selfish arse dh has put tobacco flavour in my tank and I can't get rid of the taste now Sad
I bought it from prestige vaping and its a falcon.can anyone suggest anything I can do, I don't think you can replace the coil in it so I may need to buy a new vant Angry

anyoldname76 · 04/10/2014 08:28

New tank I mean, I'm so angry I can't even type Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 04/10/2014 09:01

If you have a bit of vodka give it a soak in that and leave it to dry. If you have some menthol liquid that will blast the flavour through but your tank will then taste of menthol so only do this if you like it Grin

The tank you have is a ce4 and you are right, you can't change the coil in those. It's a good idea to have more than one in any case as they don't last that long.

Allergictoironing · 04/10/2014 09:05

Try rinsing it out with hot water a few times, then leaving it in soak for a couple of hours.

Had a look at the kit you got, it's pretty standard eGo type battery with a CE4 tank. Tanks class as consumable items, the coil tends to burn out in a few weeks so it would have needed replacing soon-ish anyway.

The good news is that nearly every tank on the market is 510/eGo threaded, which means they will fit on your battery. I would suggest that you get a few replacement tanks, preferably ones with replaceable coils - that way you'll never be without a tank & if your DH screws up again you have spares. Current Mumsnet favorites for cheap but original tanks are Klaudo and e-cigs88 on e-Bay.

Klaudo only has CE4s in at the mo (like the one you already have) though often has GS-H2s which are what I (and many others here use) with a replaceable atomiser, e-cigs88 only does the GS-H2s. Pretty shiny colours available and much cheaper than most. Buy a 5 or 10 pack & you're away!

I would also strongly recommend you get a spare battery (or 2). I go cold at the very thought of my battery running out of charge, and they tend to only last a few months too - imagine having to wait 3 days for a new one to arrive in the post if the old one dies Shock!

Thank you, he's used the last of the peppermint in his, I think some online retail therapy is called for today Smile

magimedi so maybe around the same amount?

pube I did buy some 18mg ones too but I've not opened 'em yet as I thought I'd see how it goes.

Yesterday I smoked two rollies 'cause I went out drinking, but don't think it's that big a deal to be honest. Funny how disgusting they taste after only a couple of days of vaping! Today I've got an awful hangover so I've not smoked or vaped ALL DAY! That's not like me at all. I'll probably disappear behind a cloud of vapour tomorrow though :)

chocolaterainbow · 05/10/2014 00:12

Oh polter that's cheap. Has anyone tried them?

Hi vapers new and old! Well done to the new ones Grin

I bumped into a woman yesterday - I don't know her well, just well enough to say hi - who almost leapt on me to show me her vaping kit! She'd got it a week ago but had been considering it because she and I had had a conversation about ecigs 6 months ago. Another convert!

I have so many juices which I haven't actually used yet so I have to stop buying. I did have a look at that site, Polter. They have one flavour I'd quite like to try, but the postage is more than the juice! They're on the radar now though, and I'm sure their repertoire will expand.

Allergictoironing · 10/10/2014 13:40

Urgh don't feel well! It's been 8 months today since my last stinky, and I was visiting my heavily smoking neighbour for a chat this morning. I'm pretty sure I'm 100% off real fags, so I asked her for one single puff of hers just to see what my reaction would be - she happened to have my favourite brand when I smoked.

It tasted indescribably VILE, and I felt a bit queasy & lightheaded for a while after as well. And my stomach is now playing up (though that could be IBS).

I think we all end up trying a puff once after we've swapped, all with the same reaction!

Jux · 10/10/2014 17:48

Allergic, I don't know whether to commiserate or congratulate Grin

Perihelion · 14/10/2014 00:04

Pleased you posted Allergic as I was trying to remember how long I'd stopped for and I knew it was the same time as you Grin

Have also noticed that in addition to the money saved on baccy, I now spend way less in the local shop as I'm not in as often......

Allergictoironing · 14/10/2014 08:27

Monday Feb 10th was my last one Perihelion, at around 10pm. That date & time may be permanently burned into my memory Grin.

Haven't done the exact maths (can't be bothered this early) but I do know I've saved well over £2k & probably nearer £2.5k even allowing for my liking for shiny VV batteries & my tendency to drop & crack tanks.

Allergictoironing · 14/10/2014 10:22

BBC Radio4 is running a series of shorts called 21st Century mythologies, and tomorrow (Wednesday 15 October) they are looking at e-cigarettes. Tune in to Radio 4 tomorrow at 12.04, also available on iPlayer after that

Cantabile · 14/10/2014 14:26

Thanks, Allergic. It'll be interesting to hear if they use research or 'research' in the making of it. Wink

Igotafreegoattoo · 16/10/2014 20:41

I need some vaping help. I have vaped for two years (vision spinner 12mg set up)

I'm pregnant......I quit vaping 7 weeks ago.

I want to kill someone/something. I'm depressed, fed up, annoyed. I'm following smokers around trying to get a whiff.

I've looked and looked and cannot see any research regarding pregnancy and nicotine (obviously lots on smoking and pregnancy) but nothing on nicotine on its own.

Does anybody have any words of advice? I'm not going to start smoking again, but really really want to vape...

Allergictoironing · 16/10/2014 20:53

Igotafreegoattoo I have no idea about the affects of nicotine on pregnancy I'm afraid, but have you tried vaping some 0% liquid?

I know it won't be the same as your 12mg, but there may be enough association and the habit to help a bit. Unless you're one of those unfortunate people who have problems with PG, you may want to go for a higher or even 100% PG liquid as that should give a better throat hit, which would compensate a little for having no nicotine.

Cough, cough - Oh no, I don't cough as it is two years today that I smoked my last ever stinky!

Never cease to be amazed & grateful for vaping & just wish it had been around years ago!
