I'm hoping some of our most knowledgeable vapers are going to start threads about specific aspects of vaping.

I wouldn't get too depressed yet Allergic. I meant to post here the other day that Totally Wicked are launching a legal action against the TPD (yes, TW did a good thing! ) and it looks quite hopeful. ECITA are planning a legal action as well. All is not lost.

The WHO are spouting bollox but they only have an advisory role. We have ASH, Royal College of Physicians and Public Health England broadly on our side.

It does get exhausting though doesn't it? It seems to go in waves, every time a scaremongering report comes out I get people coming up to me and saying 'they're going to ban those you know' or 'those are as bad as fags you know' and looking so. fucking. smug. So I patiently explain what is actually happening legally and what spurious grounds it's based on and what the science we have so far is actually saying ... and then it all calms down for a while until the next BS report is picked up by the press, exaggerated and misreported

Thanks Plenty, I needed that. I can sort of understand some less educated people repeating what they've been told by the press, but this guy was clearly smart or he couldn't have been where or what he was, yet he refused to listen at all. I was surprised that he even brought up the old "the batteries are dangerous" thing, not even people like WHO are still pushing that old chestnut any more!

On the plus side, I may have persuaded my mates to create a discount code for the vipers here for their new range of UK made liquids (which they've cut the price of too). Trying to get them to get Blackcurrant in on a trial basis - tried a sample today & it's not just scrummy but a really strong flavour that's missing from many juices on the market .

That sounds good, Allergic. I've got some Dark Star blackberry which is very nice, finished their raspberry quite a while ago.

I'm currently working my way through the odds and sods which I only have a couple of mls left of, and have just ordered tons more from all over the place. I shall be awash with the stuff when all my orders arrive.

I'm looking for a nice sharp lemon, but all those I've seen are sweet and/or sherberty. Not what I want.

I am getting a bit worried that vaping will go out the window as Wales and Canada have banned it in public places (enclosed, at any rate). I just think the more places do that, the more likely everybody else will.

I've been writing to MPs, mine especially, but he's a wimp. What we really need is a very big celebrity to come down in favour of vaping.to

Plenty, didn't TW do something like that some years ago too? They are big enough and strong enough to have an effect. I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time they've weighed in, but I'm scratching my head over what they might have been fighting over 5 or so years ago.

Maybe it was the old MHRA proposals?

That's worth remembering - a couple of years back the MHRA were insisting that ecigs WOULD be banned except for those with a medicinal licence. That was all hot air because they didn't have the power to make that happen.

Has Wales actually agreed on a ban? I thought it was still at the discussion stage.

That's a possibility Plenty - he did mention licensing at some stage.

Hi Tipsy, having read around a bit, most people just seem to buy them on amazon or at their local pharmacy and then just add a tiny bit to their juice.

I've been using one of these recently - it's like a gs-h2 but glass and I love it. The mouthpiece feels really nice and chunky (which won't suit everyone - DH doesn't like it). I don't know what the coil is like that comes with it, it looked a bit shit so I binned it. I've got a naturevape coil in it with Grant's vanilla custard and a splash of hangsen banana in it. It's lovely

I have taken the plunge today and bought an ecig. I smoke less than 10 a day, but I'm fed up with my hair smelling and always being paranoid about my breath.

I went into a shop and they let me try out loads of different flavours, so I settled on a cherry one to start me off.

Please may I come and join this thread? I have loads and loads of probably ridiculous questions - but no one to ask!

Ask away Animals, we all started sometime & had the same questions . . There are a few more technically minded people (waves at Plenty) who do understand the more complex kit but this is a willy-waving free zone, so you won't get people being all superior here just because they have some lashed up mod and you have a basic kit.

Nice to have a local shop, which sounds like a decent one if they let you try loads of flavours. Cherry is a pretty popular starter flavour, or first non-tobacco flavour for many people.

I have an EVOD thingy, with a clear tank thingy, with what looks like bits of cord in the liquid. I'm all about the thingies today it would seem!!!

I started the day with my usual 2 ciggies at home before work (teacher - so smoking v not cool!) but instead of going and lurking behind the wheelie bins down the Alley of Shame at break & lunch, I vaped in my car!!!! I really enjoyed not having to hang around to wait for the smell to go away!!!

Didn't feel like I had missed out, wasn't craving during the afternoon at all!

Just go home and had a Marlboro Light - and wow - it tasted so strong! Is that normal? Really hit the back of my throat!!!

How often should I charge my purple beauty up? And for how long?

None of those questions are at all ridiculous, all perfectly sensible .

EVOD battery (nice taste in colours btw) - how long between charges is dependant on the size of the battery & how much you use it. They are rated in about 3 different sizes that I can remember off-hand; 650, 900 and 1000 mAh. You can top up charges in e-cig batteries without it knackering them, so until you get properly settled in you may want to top it up whenever you get the chance. If you get on with vaping, you'll want at least one (or 3 ) spares.

Tank thingy with dangly bits of cord is known as the tank or clearo/clearomiser. The cord is the wick to soak up the liquid, which takes it to the atomiser or heating coil, which is what creates the vapour. In time the coil, the wick or both tend to die, and whether that part is replaceable depends on what type it is. Another item you're going to want a few spares of if you take to vaping OK (also great for flavour swapping ).

How strong a real cig tastes compared to vaping is dependant on a few things like the brand of cig, the flavour you're vaping, the proportions of the base liquid (PG & VG), and the nicotine content of the liquid!

The EVOD is a 650 - but I'm not entirely sure what that means

I'm enjoying the cherry flavour - I like how it's not anything like tobacco! But am already planning to go back and try some other flavours at the weekend - the lady in our little shop was really helpful, and mentioned rhubarb and custard flavour, which I now can't stop thinking about!!!

I'm guessing that online spares will be cheaper (I've had a read back on the thread and followed a few links) but until I'm confident I know exactly what I want, then I'll continue with the shop. The teeny bottles of liquid are £4.99 from the shop. The nicotine content is 0.6.

I'm off for a shower and I will follow that with a vape, rather than making myself stink straight away with a fag!
