Hooray to getting our own space (within giving up smoking).

Flowers & Wine (gin) to MNHQ for giving us this space.

I'm hoping some of our most knowledgeable vapers are going to start threads about specific aspects of vaping.

Do you have a spare battery, rock? It's a good idea to always have a spare of everything.

I've got two, one has been leaking all day.
But I have not been tempted to go buy any stinkies so that's something!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 12/08/2014 22:17

Get some more clearomisers, the coils only last a few weeks anyway. Everything is interchangeable so you can use either of your batteries with whatever you buy.

How did the night out go?

rockpink · 12/08/2014 22:24

It was great! Thank you for asking. Stinkies were, well, stinky! not nice smelling!
I bought my pal an e-cig & she was delighted and still she went and smoked!
I want a smaller e-cig & I think I found one on ebay. Its v cheap so I might as well try it!

(And I've used far too many exclamation marks)

Allergictoironing · 12/08/2014 23:26

Rock my friends in the business do a mini clearo that fits on their extra long life cigalike sized batteries. Not really cheap, but a nice small bit of kit if you prefer that? I like my big vv spinner & Ego C twist, but I know the whole family that sells them uses them - this kit

rockpink · 12/08/2014 23:59

Cheers, I shall have a look at that! :)

Depends - you get 2 batteries, 2 clearos, the charger & 30ml juice with the Smart Cigs kit. Depends really on what you want e.g. 1 or 2 batteries & clearos. One of the big differences is that the Vape Escape kit comes with a 510 fitting (like most big batteries) and the Smart Cigs kit uses 808D fitting (like many cigalikes).

I know Smart Cigs are rarely cheap for anything, but actually in this case I think that's reasonable in comparison. Some of their juices are sort of Hangsen type quality (e.g. the pineapple tastes exactly like Hangsen) but some of the other fruit flavours are nicer (grape, apple, wild cherry, pomegranate). Don't personally like any of their tobacco myself though Sad.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 13/08/2014 08:52

I'd go for something with a 510 fitting. There are not many clearos around that will fit an 808.

SD keyring is another option. It has a 510 fitting. You don't have to use those cartos that come with it, the Vape Escape spare clearos will fit.

There will always be a payoff between size and battery life. Generally the bigger the battery the higher the mah rating.

For comparison:

Smart Cigs - 330 mah
Vape Escape - 320 mah
SD keyring - 300 mah
SD keyring maxi - 650 mah

average cig-alike - 110 mah
what lasts me a day - 1300 mah

Another option here with a standard ego fitting and 350 mah battery for £10

Be careful with chargers if you are getting smaller batteries - make sure you only ever use the charger that came with it.

Yes I often recommend the express kit from there (for £2 more you get 2 really good clearos). I don't know if those 650 mah batteries are as small as rock wants though?

rockpink · 13/08/2014 10:49

I'm here I'm here, still looking!! :)

rockpink · 13/08/2014 10:50

Plenty I've got that one and it definitely leaks :(

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 13/08/2014 20:50

Yeah most things leak sooner or later Smile They're good clearos because they're dual coil which gives you more vapour. They are miles better than CE4's which you get with the christmas kit.

Where is it leaking from? There are various things you can try to remedy it:

  • unscrew from battery, put a tissue underneath and blow down it hard a few times

If that doesn't work, try the following:

  • take it to bits and give it a good rinse out (especially the centre pipe on the coil head) and dry thoroughly before refilling
  • check the coils and wicks are where they are supposed to be and the silocone O-rings are not broken
  • make sure the top silicone cap is placed correctly over the wicks and all the parts are screwed together tightly with no wonky threads
  • make sure it's not screwed too tightly onto the battery, this can push up the centre pin in the clearo and cause it to leak

If that doesn't work (or if the coils look like little lumps of coal) it's time to either get some new coil heads or some new clearos (of which there are a bajillion choices!) They don't last that long whatever you do*. I'm still perfectly happy with the cheap and cheerful GS-H2, other people will have posher choices.

*If you want a really long-lasting coil, you might want to shell out for a NatureVape - the coils are rumoured to last for up to 8 months and they provide an excellent vape - stacks more vapour and flavour than any other ready-made coil on the market. They do take a bit of looking after (you have to change the wick and dry burn them periodically) but it's not difficult.

BUT: be prepared to get through a lot of juice and a lot of battery life (might not be suitable at all for some of the diddy batteries you are looking at) - oh, and mine leaks Grin

Also, top coil clearos (like the iclear 16) don't like being overfilled or being upside down or your cat looking at them funny

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 13/08/2014 20:59

And don't suck too hard on any clearo - nice slow gentle drags.

Vaping is all a bit Heath Robinson Grin

Rockpink only skimmed the last few posts......do you really need a smaller ecig or have you just recently given up the fags so aren't used to the size and weight of a big battery? I remember my 1100 battery seeming huge to start with, compared to a wee rollie, but it's fine now. And 1100 will do me 24 hours, although if I go out, I take a spare and extra juice so I've no excuse for bumming fags off my smoking pals.

Allergic waves Grin over 6 months for us now. I've not even bothered to calculate how much I've saved not buying tobacco. Not smelling of smoke and having working lungs is bonus enough for me.

rockpink · 16/08/2014 21:20

Probably not, just the e-cig feels massive and heavy compared to a normal cigarette, you're right!

Yes I have successfully adapted from skinny roll-ups to a brick-like MVP Grin

rockpink · 17/08/2014 20:26

I can't remember why I smoked now. I'm perfectly happy with this e-cig! Is it now time to reduce the nicotine level?
ps I still hide in public loo when out with the fella who still doesn't know I vape!! Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 17/08/2014 21:39

Well done!

Is it now time to reduce the nicotine level?
Only if you want to Rock, and in your own time. You've eliminated approx 99% of the health risk of smoking and are no longer harming those around you. I have personally made peace with my nicotine habit, maybe I'll reduce and eventually stop vaping in the future but for now I think I function better on nicotine. If you want to cut down and stop, the easiest way is to buy the next strength down and start mixing a bit in at a time.

This is a new fella you're with I take it? Grin How do you think he'd react if he knew?
