Hooray to getting our own space (within giving up smoking).

Flowers & Wine (gin) to MNHQ for giving us this space.

I'm hoping some of our most knowledgeable vapers are going to start threads about specific aspects of vaping.

Heh those were my brother's - I was cheap & used Rothman's Royals! But of course they never tasted as nice as some of the e-liquids I have these days Smile, and the Vision Spinner out-blings ANY cigs even the pretty coloured ones.

OohQuack · 23/05/2014 19:58

Is apple liquid supposed to taste so horrible? ! I have the 18mg liberty flights and a massicve 30ml hangsen waiting in my tin but this liberty flights one is nasty, id say more apple peal than apple

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 23/05/2014 20:46

Oh that DM article is just so much bum gravy!

There is already a law in the pipelines banning the sale of ecigs to under 18s - I actually thought it had already come in. Oh well, it's on its way and I've heard nobody complaining about it.

There is no evidence at all that non-smoking kids or adults are using ecigs regularly.

They're pretty hard for non smokers to become addicted to because they don't deliver the sharp nicotine 'hit' you get from a cigarette. They're similar to NRT in that sense. Non-smokers don't become addicted to patches or gum when they are used in therapeutic trials for various conditions and even if a tiny few non-smokers did become addicted to ecigs, why would they then switch to something much more expensive that smells and tastes foul, turns you into a social pariah and will probably kill you? It's utter nonsense and there is completely no evidence it's happening. At all.

For those who haven't seen it yet, here is the wonderful Clive Bates demolishing the 'gateway effect' bullshit

Why flavours are important for vapers - handy hint - if you are getting a day where you are craving fags, try switching flavours frequently.

Meanwhile, 200,000 11-15 y/o start smoking actual fags each year in the UK.

There. I know I'm preaching to the converted here but I feel so much better for that rant Smile Time to reinstall kitten block I think.

srj52 · 23/05/2014 21:00

Well said Plenty! And thanks for the tip about switching flavours!

magimedi · 24/05/2014 09:17

Players No 6 - that take me back!

Love bum gravy as an expression, that's a new one to me. Grin

Srj Just had a read, Doesn't surprise me - They've been touting for stories about kids using e cigs for absolutely ages, offering big fees for stories.

OohQuack · 26/05/2014 19:18

Just a quick Q... ive been on 18for about two weeks and im just trying a 24 I was sent... it's not going to ruin me and turn me back into a 24er is it?

magimedi · 26/05/2014 22:34

No it won't ruin you at all! Takes more than that!!

If you like 24 & vape less with it than 18, just go for it.

Hello lovely vapers! Can I join the chat? my mini pro tank 2 turned up this afternoon and I am currently vaping in front of the tv so much nicer than smoking in the back garden in the pouring rain

After a couple of mishaps getting started, dropped the Pyrex chamber smashing it on the kitchen floor Sad. Luckily had bought a nice pink spare ...can't believe I'm already blinging my ecig! Then pouring the liquid straight through the replaced chamber on to to the work top. A quick look on you tube explained what I was doing wrong Blush

I am hoping this will help me give up a 30 year cigarette habit and help get my BP down.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/05/2014 22:03

Good luck Billoddie! I have a mini protank 2 as well Smile I replaced the drip tip on mine because I don't like metal - I got a nice pyrex one from fasttech. It's a lovely vape but tbh I can't be doing with it very often - too many bits to wash up.

What juice did you get?

Perihelion · 29/05/2014 00:03

Good luck Billoddie. Am about 3 1/2 months fag free now. It's been so easy. Had a long hen night at the weekend, ending up in a housefull of smoking smokers and I wasn't tempted at all. In fact I was bothered by the smokey atmosphere.

There was an article on the BBC website the other day, saying that there's been less use of the smoking cessation services in Scotland, which they've put down to the rise of vaping.

Raia · 29/05/2014 12:44

Hello billoddiesbeard and good luck! Another one who has kicked a 30+ year habit with ecigs here Smile

Billoddiesbeard · 29/05/2014 20:05

Well that's the first 24 + hours out of the way, although I am struggling a bit after eating my evening meal. (My normal time to relax with a cigarette)
I have been using menthol 12 mg liquid today and I think the nicotine level might be a little low so have some 18 mg on order.
Am loving the vape from the pro tank, looking forward to trying some of the more exotic flavours over the next few weeks. :)

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 29/05/2014 21:14

Woohoo! Flowers

srj52 · 29/05/2014 21:35

Advice please! I have recently got a kanger evod which I really like but I'm wondering how I know when to change the coil? Does it stop working or taste funny? A really rookie question!

Raia · 29/05/2014 22:18

Hi srj Smile

When the coil starts wearing out you'll notice you're getting less satisfaction from your vape: less flavour, less vapour. I always know it's time for a new coil when I'm chain-vaping, like I'm having to struggle to get enough iyswim?

Allergictoironing · 30/05/2014 08:25

Damn Slowtech - almost guaranteed to cause shopping accidents! Needed a couple of bits like replacement atomisers and wanted some of those "tasting" drip tip covers (so you can try others ecigs without swapping germs). Realised that I was just a few pounds short of the $20 point where you get free tracked postage. Surely you'll all see that I HAD to buy something else to make it up past the $20 mark didn't I? Blush

Jux · 30/05/2014 17:39

Grin of course you did, Allergic! Anything else would have been unreasonable!

Good luck all you new vapers!

Interesting that those making use of smoking cessation services are decreasing. So ecigs are saving the NHS money already. Goody goody!

OohQuack · 31/05/2014 00:09

So its pay day and the mvp v2 is on its way :-D good job really because three of the big batteries ive got have stopped working with any of my kangers but will work with dps gs-h2 s.... no idea why... but who cares mvps on it way and ive got to figure out how to set it up woooo

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 31/05/2014 08:20

You probably need to very gently and/or pull down the centre pins on the kangers (don't pull the pin out though - be very gentle).

ineedausername · 31/05/2014 22:02

Hi! Can i join you guys?
Just got my kit today, trialing cherry but i have more flavors coming soon!
Going to try and not have any ciggies tomorrow, but will see how that goes lol!

Allergictoironing · 31/05/2014 22:21

Count the cigarettes you don't have rather than the ones you do, that way you won't feel it's not working if you have a slip up Grin.

For some people giving up completely on day 1 is easy, but for some we had to "dual fuel" for a while slowly cutting down the stinkies over time - it's the habit as much as the nicotine that makes it hard.

ineedausername · 01/06/2014 15:03

Well I've had have a real ciggy at 8am and no more since then! Very good considering the kids were out all morning and me and OH had a BBQ! I'd normally have had about 7 or 8 by now....

Allergictoironing · 01/06/2014 15:28

Couple of tricks that might help.

Try putting the real cigs somewhere you don't usually spend any time in, e.g. spare bedroom. That way you really have to think about whether you want a fag & won't just light up out of habit.

Another one is for every packet of cigs you DON'T buy, put all or part of the money aside in a jar or tin - this can now be "indulgence" money to be spent on shoes, meals out or holiday upgrades etc. Watching how quickly this money grows can be a very good incentive Wink

ineedausername · 01/06/2014 15:36

Well we were at the garage this morning, OH said "shall we buy some just incase?" "Nope I said, we are doing it properly"
So we don't have any ciggies in the house at all :)
