Hooray to getting our own space (within giving up smoking).

Flowers & Wine (gin) to MNHQ for giving us this space.

I'm hoping some of our most knowledgeable vapers are going to start threads about specific aspects of vaping.

OK the basics. There is a battery, a container to put the liquid in (clearo/tank), and the atomiser which is what heats the liquid to create the vapour.

With your Skycigs you had a battery and what's called a cartomiser or cartridge that contained the atomiser and the liquid in a sealed container. The EVOD is similar in that you have the battery and a clearomiser - the differences being that you can remove the bottom of the clearo (which is also the atomiser) to refill with liquid.

So rather than getting a whole sealed unit that's thrown away once the liquid is finished, you can easily refill it by unscrewing the bottom of the clearo. To make things even more economical, the bit you can unscrew is the atomiser so when that finally packs in as they all do then rather than buy a whole new clearo you just replace the atomiser part.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 22/05/2014 20:21

The battery should last about 6 months at least. The atomisers last a week or two but that kit comes with a pile of spares so you don't have to buy a whole new clearo each time. You should be fine equipment-wise for a few months if you get that.

Most people get through between 2 and 5 ml a day of juice. Most places are very fast delivery. It's worth having a nose round your local newsagents - lots of them have started selling a range of juice and a few bits of kit (usually not the best quality though).

thank you all!! Its beginning to come together and make more sense now. The link I posted up thread - I imagine whats on sale there isn't any good as its not a whole kit (IYSWIM)

Allergictoironing · 22/05/2014 20:26

Polter the very VERY rough estimate I've heard is that for a 20 a day smoker, typical usage is in the region of around 20ml per week.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 22/05/2014 20:27

Charlie that kit is pricey for what it is but if you want something right now, it will work fine. Everything is interchangeable so you can upgrade the clearo later and buy spare batteries somewhere cheaper and everything will fit. Go on youtube and search for 'CE4 clearomizer' and you will find info on how to fill and use it.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 22/05/2014 20:29

well that's between 2 and 5 ml Polter Grin

The people who get through 5ml are the ones with huge dual micro coil dripping atomisers doing the Big Clouds Of Vapour on youtube or they work from home a lot like me

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 22/05/2014 20:31

Oh misread - 3ml a week - you're a very light vaper Smile

If I'm working in the office I go through about 1ml a day. If I'm at home it's more like 3ml.

What kit are you using and what strength juice?

I'm on gs-h2s and 18mg too (mind you I have recoiled mine to 1.8 ohms so they will get through a bit more juice). I mostly use an mvp but have it set at 3.7 volts so same as an ego.

I used to smoke about half what you did! Maybe I just like vaping a bit too much Grin

Allergictoironing · 22/05/2014 20:53

Nah I think it's Polter who is vaping very lightly - I used to smoke 30 a day & as far as I can estimate (what with swapping flavours a lot) I'm probably on 20-25ml a week - 18mg, GS-H2s and usually Spinner/Ego C-twist.

Though I think I must be vaping a bit less than I was, as my batteries seem to be lasting longer between charges Grin

magimedi · 23/05/2014 14:48

I'm another one at home & I reckon to vape about 3ml per day as well.

Less if I am very busy.

I noticed last night I had to fill my thing three times! !

Raia · 23/05/2014 15:37

I vape about 3ml a day too (less if I'm out and about a lot)

srj52 · 23/05/2014 16:23

Grrrr have just read the latest Daily Mail anti ecig nonsense. Article is about how sweet flavoured ecigs could lead kids to be hooked on nicotine. Same principle as alcopops and booze it seems. Apparently they are cheaper than real fags - which is news to me. Oddly the kid they interviewed is actually 18 which somewhat undermines their story. Oh and she didn't say she ever moved onto real fags.just Google ecigarettes and the online article is top of the list. Will now go for calming vape...

Allergictoironing · 23/05/2014 16:37

To be fair they do cost considerably less than real fags once you've got the initial set-up. OK so probably between £50 & £75 for basic kit, then up to a tenner a week on liquid, but compare that to well over £50 every single week for an average smoker.

But I do agree the Daily Heil does seem to only report the "facts" they want to and ignore little things like 0% nicotine liquid being available, and just how many of these kids would be smoking if they weren't vaping....

srj52 · 23/05/2014 17:39

I agree that they are much cheaper once you have bought the kit and are then buying juice etc but not many teenagers are going to be making that initial investment. But for the casual user a packet of 10 non premium brand fags are cheaper. The only things comparably cheap are the zero nicotine shisha pens. Can they be sold to under 18s? Agree that the kids buying these are those who would be buying fags anyway. I cringe at the memory of me and my friend scraping together 9 1/2 pence to buy 10 Park Drive when we were about 12. Oops that's showing my age! Lucky that my memories arent in 'old money'. And yes I realise that some of you won't even know what old money was!!!

Allergictoironing · 23/05/2014 17:59

It was Players No. 6 for me & my friends Grin.

TBH I think many teens these days have more disposable income than some adults me included

srj52 · 23/05/2014 18:45

Oh dear I think I'm getting nostalgic about cigarette brands of the past! Sobranie Cocktails in my New Romantic days! Possibly one of the reasons its hard to give up - associations with good times past making you forget the stinky reality!
