magi I'll put some RY5 in the post for you - same address as last time? I get mine from Premier ecigs - £2.50 for 10ml, but I buy it 30ml at a time so will decant some for you into a 10ml bottle

I think the important thing is to just buy something and get started. I dithered around for 18 months before I bought some kit because I didn't know which was the 'best' when actually pretty much anything would have been good enough, at least to start with.
If you're happy with the sky cigs then stick with them for now but as srj says, seek out some refillable cartomisers for them - actually you might want to see if you can prise off the plastic cap off one of your empty ones (paperclip is good for this), if so you can refill those quite a few times. There's a video I posted a while back - I'll see if I can find it.
If you want a step up that won't cost you any more in the long run, you could do a lot worse than get two of these - get two so you have two batteries. The batteries will last you way longer than the skycig and you will probably prefer the vape you get off it (although some people do prefer cartomisers to a tank).
Youtube is brilliant for finding out how to use whatever you buy. Search for the name of the clearomiser and you'll find loads, e.g. if you get the kit I linked to, search for iclear 16 and you will find lots of reviews which usually show you how to fill and look after it.
For liquid, I usually get mine from Premier ecigs - they do a very wide variety of flavours for £2/10ml which should last you the best part of a week at least. It doesn't need steeping from here, you can use it straight away. Get a few different flavours and experiment until you work out what you like. Most 20 a day smokers do ok on 18mg (1.8%) to start with. Adjust up or down as necessary.
