I am a psychologist (and stepmum!) and have been conducting research on stepfamilies for the past 5 years. I've now developed a step parenting course based on my research which I'm hoping to evaluate in October. This is the first course of it's kind in the UK. I'm running the program in Slough, Berkshire and desperately need stepmums (or stepdads) to come along so that we can evaluate it. It's going to run for four Wednesdays, starting on 30th September, from 7 - 9pm at one of the Surestart Children's centres. I'd be really grateful if anyone who lives in the area would be willing to come along and give some feedback. I'm hoping it will be a good way to meet others in the same position and will offer lots of advice and support on common stepparenting problems. The course if being run FREE of CHARGE!
