DP set a rule before we started living together, if step DD is naughty she should be smacked (not my choice). I had to smack her for the first time at the weekend, I hated every minute of it. Has anyone else been in the same situation? What should I do? He won't listen to my opinion and won't change his mind.

Hi ssmudge,
My husband smacks my stepson, but I don't. I disipline by naughty step/timeout etc. Perhaps explaining to DP that your not comfortable with that form of disipline. Don't do it if your not comfortable with it - full stop. Not sure how else you can handle it really, sorry I have'nt been much help but I can sympathise with the punishment of naughty behaviour from stepkids x

I'd leave it to her dad TBH. If that's the discipline he chooses that's fine. If I was the child's mother, I'd be horrified at a stepmother smacking my child as a form of discipline. I have never and would never smack DH's DD. She has priveleges taken away, and time outs in her room instead.
