HELP!!!!!

I have a 15 year old stepson, who lives with his mother. My husband had quite a friendly divorce and untill recently we saw his two children regularly. We had a phone call last night from his daughter {13} to say that her brother had been expelled from school and had run away!!!!!!! We have heard nothing from his ex-wife except a text message to say that he had returned home. She is refusing to speak to us and this has obviously left my husband felling very upset and not really knowing what to do next. We had no idea he was having trouble at school and don't know what he did to get expelled. Does anybody have anything helpful.

I would contact the school and ask to speak to the head or his year head, perhaps arrange an appointment to see them if it's nearby?

DH has had no communication with xw for the last 10 years but did regularly speak to schools / attend parents evenings for ss & sd as it was the only way to stay in the loop.

The schools were always helpful.

What's communication like between your dh & xw normally?

I agree with vic. I'm a stepmum to 2 boys, aged 12.5 & 11, and my DH has always made every effort to keep 'in' with the school. So many divorced/estranged Dads don't bother and it means that they miss out on so much . Your DH has every right to go direct to the school, he doesn't have to get the info from his ex

I'd agree with the others. My dh ensures that he is fully involved by the school too. Dsd's mum has changed her school twice, and each time the headmistress was more than happy to discuss what was going on with dh. We also get the silent treatment from the x, she thinks that what happens when dsd is with her mother is nothing to do with dh.

Thankyou, going to the school was something that we had not thought of as they changed schools about a year ago and have not had any contact with this school. Untill recently they have had quite good communication but we have not seen his children for about a month and have not really spoken to her apart from a quick phone call to say that they wernt coming to see us. I suppose looking back now we should have made more of an effort to talk to her but thought she would contact us if there was anything wrong, how wrong could we have been!!! Thankyou again though.
