My Daughters have had a limited relationship with their Dad, spending every other weekend with him. A lot has gone on over the years and it’s been a turbulent co-parenting relationship. He met a woman last year, after having a different girlfriend around them and then got this new one pregnant. Therefore, he stayed with her. My youngest (13) has not accepted the baby and will not meet her. I have encouraged her, but she is firm in how she feels. She is Autistic and PDA. My other daughter (14) who is also autistic came around to the idea and was continuing to stay over on her weekends, but the new partner was getting jealous of him spending any time with my Daughter. A couple of months ago, there was a row about it in front of her and the girlfriend has a clear issue with my 14 year old. She was calling her names such as “rude” and “misbehaved” and was saying how he puts them before the baby. I don’t see how when he lives with the baby and my kids see him four days a month. My Daughter is just quiet. She is not rude, nor misbehaved! She is autistic and struggles with communication. She is an angel of a child and not your typical teenager. This argument was because he was watching TV with my Daughter and the woman stormed off upstairs. Dad did surprisingly stick up for her and left, after the woman taking his car keys and not letting him leave! I have since found out the year they have been together has been toxic and she kicks him out a lot. They were separated for a couple of months after the argument and he was staying at his Mum’s house and having my kids there. Now he has decided to move back in with her and expects my Daughters to just deal with it. I suggested he continue to stay at his Mums on his weekends and build the relationship with her and my girls. But he said he isn’t separating his life. He told my Daughter he won’t divide himself anymore. My Daughter has told him she’s uncomfortable staying there again at the moment and she’d like to go out and do things with him instead. Instead he has only asked her to do something as a ‘family.’ She just wants it to be with him. I’m feeling worried that this woman is going to isolate him from his children (I would never say that to them.) I will continue to encourage them to have a relationship with their Dad, but I can’t force them to go there. Of course, if they want to go there, I would let them, but to be honest even I’m not comfortable with this woman around my children now. I feel she knows what she is doing and wants him to just be a family, without his previous children. She has also been making fake pages and getting her friends to watch me on social media. She has been insinuating that I am in the children’s ears, when I am not. I had accepted my girls around his affair partner and many women since. So how does she work that out. Any advice? I feel I’m doing the right thing as a mother, by encouraging them, not forcing them, but i’m hurt by it all myself and so worried sick that the already minimal relationship they have, will be ruined. I already live with guilt for choosing the wrong person to have children with, but this is weighing heavy on me.
