I always wanted to have a large family and many children. I have one DC and I did get really upset early on after they were born as I couldn't 1) face going through the PND again and 2) we can't afford it. Anyway I struggled with this as DH has two DC with someone else, my DSC. And I struggled because I really wanted my DC to have a bigger family.

Anyhow I am just posting because this weekend my eldest DSC without prompting referred to DC as their sister to their friend and it made my heart sing. I am so glad they see them as family, it was a bumpy start with jealousy especially with the oldest one. For the first time in 5+ years I truly and unquestionably felt like we were a family unit. I just wanted to share that. Please no one rain on my parade

That's lovely op. Us happy step mums have less cause to post which I think paints a gloomy picture of step parenting. I'm glad it's working well for you and your family.

That's so lovely OP. You have your family. 💗

I've had my stepdaughter for 23 years now, I'm mum to her 2 half siblings, we all adore her and she's never referred to as half anything, she's just sister. I'm thankful for her and love her dearly.

It really is the best, I'm so pleased you have that too.

That's a lovely post. I posted a while ago under a different name about just how grateful and appreciative I was at the chance of being a parent. My DP has three children, almost all adults now. We have been together for years and his wife had died many years before we met. I have no children of my own but have loved almost all parts of being a step mother. Whilst it hasn't been smooth sailing it has been a joy and a blessing.

Thank you for being kind. It has been tough and I've had to enforce my boundaries at times but it's really nice and I just wanted to share.

I’m grateful for mine too! Love them very much.

I’m delighted for you.

Lovely post OP. I am grateful for my two but the older one, still now is very jealous and is often nasty to my own DS and DD. My youngest SC always refers to then as family and that is lovely.

Every now and again the eldest will do something like take my DS to play at the park and you know, those small wins, when we work as a family, its all worth the pain we put up with as step parents. Wonderful OP.

Meant to put an exclamation mark on the end there, not a question mark! 😂

It’s so nice to hear of step parents like you OP. A very far cry from the usual step parent posts!

Wonderful for your own DC and your DSC to grow up this way, your love and acceptance will go a long way to improving their lives and outcomes.
