They've gone on holiday

DSC have gone on holiday today for two whole weeks and I'm so relieved (usually have 50:50 so they've gone over our time too).

Two whole weeks.

Anyone else feel like this? I'm sure DH will mope a little bit but I'm just so glad to not have the additional work / effort hassle for two whole weeks. Their mum is mainly a fucking nightmare so I'm very much including her in that.

It's honestly my favourite part of the summer. 2 weeks where no one is fannying about with ever changing contact, Disney parenting, a moody teen pulling their face at everything. Lovely.

And most importantly 2 weeks of my DCs lives not having to revolve around DSCs schedule.

Genuine question but why do you put up with this?

I do what I want with my DC regardless of my step daughter being over.

Christmasiscominghohoho · 12/08/2022 16:42

Enjoy the peace though 🍷

Bluub · 12/08/2022 17:42

I love it. And then I also enjoy it when they are here for two weeks.

You're a better person than me then. I dread it 😂

It's not even that tbh, I do do what I want with my DC.

But it's the whole royalty have arrived routine and the constant swapping and changing days and DHs attention being pulled all over. It's all so much calmer and more relaxed when they aren't here.

Your husband actually giving attention to his own children? Gosh yes, can see why that would be bad

NashvilleQueen · 12/08/2022 17:58

I don't know. I started off feeling this was an understandable reaction to a break but now I'm not so sure. It sounds a little as though you resent them for existing.

I'm sure it's just the exuberance talking.

Obviously very normal, very good. But still nice to have a break and just be us sometimes.

You resent your partner having his attention pulled to his children.

Think that says more about you than anyone else.

Nope. Don't resent it. Just nice to have a break and it just be us for a couple of weeks.

Ahhhhhh bliss!! Enjoy it. My SS's mother takes him fucking nowhere. However he's going home tomorrow after 3 nights. Can't wait to have my house to myself.

I don’t blame you for enjoying the time.

My step daughter only comes around Eow and I much prefer life in general on the weekends when she’s not here.

TwoBulletsFiveZombies · 12/08/2022 22:11

I'd feel the same, would love a 2 week break. Enjoy it!

templesit · 12/08/2022 23:11

Sounds great.

I remember loving half terms as dsc's mum would fully palm them off with grandparents as much as she could in school holidays- win win for me.

Didn't dislike dsc but all the 'make sure they feel great every second' was a bit much.
