Youngest DSD is 18. She has a job and a lovely boyfriend and works weekends so can't come to us eow any more. From now on she can come to see us whenever she wants for as long as she wants and it will be arranged between her and DH without having to be approved by her mum.
I've had 13 years of battling DH's Disney parenting, the crazy manipulation of the ex wife and my whole life being controlled by a ridiculous access contract and I feel free at last.
A good friend has just met a wonderful man with young kids and is struggling with all the issues above and she asked me how the hell I coped with it and looking back I don't know how I did it. But I did and I'm so glad I stuck at it.
Now I'm looking at booking us a holiday IN TERM TIME for the two of us for the first time ever.
Just want to say to all you lovely stepmoms hang in there. You are doing a great job 👏

Nah, my stepmother battled with my existence until my she divorced my dad after 40 years of marriage!

You've not made it through the wedding yet....

You sound weirdly proud of that. And incredibly young.

As my DSD would say that's a weird flex

I’m not surprised.

You never know. Kids can have a very different perspective on things as they get older.

Oh God that's harsh x

I meant it a bit tongue in cheek, I forgot that this board is often a stepparent bashing free-for-all.

I meant that "it's never ending"

It's unlikely that you are anything like my stepmother, she was definitely one of a kind. They did have 38ish good years together in spite of her jealousy of me.

And a great many wonderful dogs they happily co-parented without any issues. Smile

Nah I'm gettibg divorced rather than waiting it out. Chronic stress, keeping your mouth shut and repressing yourself is linked to cancer. My life is worth more. Any SM struggling I'd advise to get out and be free rather than make yourself ill over a man and his dcs.

Oh I didn't mean it that way either! I meant harsh on you as the dsc. It must have been horrible for you.

Trust me there were times I nearly walked away and times I had to detach completely for my own sanity but somehow we muddled along anyway. I don't blame you at all though. Sometimes it's a lost cause Thanks
