I've had a crap few weeks. Work has been crazy, I've been caring for a sick family member and it really hasn't left much time for Christmas activities. My kids step mum has done everything (dads been working away). She's sorted all the school stuff Christmas jumper day, sock day , hat day Teacher gifts. She's done all the local events with them. Just dropped them back to me with haircuts & newly pierced ears (agreed In advance). They have wine & flowers for me & a couple of gifts she took them shopping for. Thank you to all the bonus mums & dads for being there for our kids when we can't.

Thank you for sounding like a lovely mum. It's so lovely to hear not everyone thinks we are wicked step mums with agendas!!

Merry Christmas xxx

OP, nice people are nice people regardless of their status. There is no universal SM think or SM behavior. There are only good people and not so good people. She sounds like one of the good people.

We should all be thankful for the good people in our lives and remember sometimes to thank them for their goodness. Your kids are fortunate to have good people in their lives

I love this...what a great team!

Luredbyapomegranate · 25/12/2021 00:33

That’s great to hear OP. Sounds like you are a great mum/co-parent. I am a step, and my DSC have a similarly great mum. Co-operation is as it should be.

That’s so lovely. SMs get a bad rap on here as do many ex’es. It’s so nice to read about everyone getting along well and putting kids first.

What a lovely thread. Merry Christmas Xmas Wink

Lovely post!

Never been a step parent myself but have close friends who are/have been and have some understanding of how difficult it can be. However, I grew up with step grandparents who were every bit as loved and part of my family and upbringing and have also seen how it can work well… families come in all shapes!

Lucky kids you have OP, lovely step mum but also amazing mum!!!!

saffalass · 28/12/2021 15:29

This post is truly heart warming. I wish my SC's Mum saw me this way. I am only seen as a threat, all I see myself is an extension to a family. I love and care for my SC and want the best for them, just like I do for my DS. I am not the OW , I met my now DH after I tragically lost my late husband. He has been amazing SDad to my son and I just wish to be the same for his children without overstepping the mark. It's caused me many tears. I am thankful though throughout the vile things that have been said to me, they still love me

What a lovely thread! I'm a SM and have a DS of my own!

This is so much how I want my relationship with the DSC mum to be! You sound like such a wonderful woman and mother!
