Hi

My husband and I have just started the process of step parent adoption. I have spoken to my ex and he has agreed that the best thing for my son is my husband adopting him. We have informed our local council and have written out the letter but not sent it yet. I was hoping I could get some other parents experiences, what happens next? What the process is like? I have researched it but I'm struggling to find a detailed step by step thing of what will happen

Have you tried the adoption board ? I know your partner is a step parent but that's kinda moot point as the dad is giving up his parental rights.

A lot of step parents won't have experience of this as by the nature of things there's usually two parents in the picture, but maybe some have so I will give this a bump for you !
