Who pays for CMS direct payments?

If I put in a claim for direct payments from the CMS, does the cost come out of my maintenance or do I get the same amount and Ex DH has to pay more?

How much is it? Is it a flat charge or a percentage of the payment?

You both do I think. Something like 20% from the paying parent and 5% from the recieving parent.

Direct Pay is when he pays you directly. No fees.

I think you mean Collect and Pay. With collect and pay, he has to pay 20% more than he normally would have. They keep that extra 20% and they take 5% from you.
So if he needs to pay £100 to you, he will have to pay £120 and you will receive £95.

Because of the charge, you cannot demand collect and pay straight away. They need to be given a chance to pay directly. If he doesnt make the payments, then can then move to collect and pay but they can be reluctant to do so, so you need to push for it.

I think you need good reason for collect and pay. Are we talking a history of missed payments?
