DSS here for the first time in a year

My DSS is home with us for the first time in over a year and I am so happy to have him here I could cry tears of joy. Just wanted to share, he is a teen and an absolute delight. I am so happy his DM can no longer use COVID-19 as an excuse to prevent him coming. Just wondering how many other families were out in a similar position?

Omg I can't believe he couldn't come for a year ! Enjoy !

ReginaaPhalange · 21/05/2021 21:34

Wow a year?!? I'm so glad to see you're happy! We have been lucky enough to have my DSC throughout and it's so great to have them here. They are such a delight to be around and I miss them when they are not here!!

He has shot up st least 4 inches and lost his little bit of puppy fat. He is just as lovely as he ever was. We all had a wonderful dinner together prepared by DH and it feels like finally a bit of normality has been restored. Can't take the smile off my face.

Omg. Why did she stop him coming? Is she usually a dick?

Guavafish · 21/05/2021 22:58

So happy for you and your family?

I'm sure DSS's DM was delighted to have a unreasonable excuse to stop him from coming...could write a whole other thread on that. I'm just happy he is here now and he's been completely relaxed and chilled, chatting away. I must add, DH was able to continue to have contact and take DSS out throughout the pandemic, he just wasn't allowed to bring him back to our house at all!

Since February 2020 we’ve had DSD to our house 3 times in the summer and now just started coming again and it’s lovely! Covid was the excuse for why and we’d go and see her for walks but it’s not the same as having her here for family life! It’s lovely!

IrisJoy · 22/05/2021 10:28

That's lovely. He is lucky to have you. I am in the opposite position where XH used it as an excuse not to see dc. The odd phone call but that is it. I messaged him yesterday to ask when he is going to start seeing them again (once a week for supper is all he has them for, at his request) and am yet to hear back....

Shocking how some parents have used the pandemic to meet their own needs.
