Step-children & new sibling

Anyone else found that the original child/ren wants to be around more with the arrival of a new sibling? If so, how did the other parent find this and was it able to work out for them? You could be on either end of this...it could be the other home having the baby and your LO wants to be there more than with you as a result....just looking for what has happened with others in this situation

DSS was excited initially and we obviously made sure he came as much as he wanted to but this quickly wore off and went back to normal levels.

I don't have any experience of this but I would think that it would be perfect natural for the eldest child to be excited by the new baby and want to be around them. I think that if any of the adults involved tried to stop this and insisted and prevented the eldest child from seeing the baby it could easily lead to the eldest feeling resentful and replaced.
