I'm frustrated but know it's me!

I live with my wife and her two children 8 & 12. I have an adult child who is at uni (postponed) and he comes round at the weekend for a night or so. Recently it's more as we are all working from home.

My wife's ex has the children from 3-7 one night a week and one overnight 7-7 each weekend.

This started 3 months ago when he got a house. Before this was living with his partner in a flat and couldn't have them overnight.

Most of the time has been lockdown so dad has had them 6 times overnight in total.

He has been saying each week, do you want to stay? You don't have to. Fair enough it's new to them and they share a room that's really hot.

He doesn't message this to my partner though, he tells the kids to pass the message on. So last night they came home saying daddy can't have us stay next weekend.

We have booked a hotel room. Both key workers, both working everyday. Wedding was postponed twice. It's on the one evening we have.

Am I being unreasonable to be completely fucked off?! I didn't get the cancellation thing as he has had the reliably forgotten the last few weeks.

I'm so fucked off and it's not my partnered fault or the kids. I just want to scream that it's not fair!!

Has your partner contacted him to say no, you’re away, he said he’d have them so he’s getting them?

He’s obviously useless but what sort of boundaries does she have with them?

Just tell him that you are not home that night and he has to sort something out, its his contact time.

What they said. How annoying. And this sending messages through the kids bollocks, that wants knocking on the head as well

I would drop the kids off and tell him your having your evening to yourself.
Boundaries need putting in place and he needs get some balls rather than going through the kids
