My SD9 removed something from my house the last time she spent a weekend with us.

I messaged her mum to say that it wasn't a big deal - however it was mine, SD wasn't meant to take it to hers and could she send it back next time SD was coming here...

That was tonight, and lo and behold it has not come back - however SD has told DH that "mum put it in the bin"

I need it back for next Monday! I could replace it for about £20 but I can't believe she's binned my property she knew was mine and said she'd send back 🙈 (Well actually I can, but still!) WWYD?

I feel like we need to know what the item is if I’m honest!!

Are you sure mum put it in the bin? That's my step daughters go to line when she can't find something at her mum's and we ask her where it is. 🙂

I'm not sure if she put it in the bin, just going with what SD said...

Would it be worth contacting her to ask do you think?

It wasn't anything inappropriate or anything - just something that was mine that she took without asking that I need back.

Yes, I’d leave your SD out of the communication now and speak to her direct.

Urgh my SS’s are on a 50/50 arrangement so do week on and week off. We always end up with stuff going back to their mothers- towels, sandwich boxes, spoons etc. None of our stuff EVER comes back. However anything of hers that ends up here my DH makes sure she gets back 🤦‍♀️. Pretty sure she binned one of my T-shirt's the boys accidentally took back.
