What does it mean by thinking of someone as their son or daughter?

Sorry, its opposite.
Someone a child is looking up to. Someone who is appreciated by child.
Also;
There are people who are acting like a father figure (by thinking of someone as their child but may not be accepted by that child/bio parent and gets rejected).
