Anyone else in same position?

Hello, am new to Mumsnet; keen to make contact with any stepmums out there in same/similar position to me. I’m full time stepmum to two, now adult children: their mother died when v young and I’ve lived with them for long time. No biological children of my own, sadly not possible; tried to make best of it; great DH but increasingly strained with the children. Lots of SMs have own children so different issues/tensions. Anyone in same position to me? Would be great to chat

I think you will find lots of people here in similar situations! How old are your step children?

My partner has two sons, 19 and 13. He’s pretty much not been with their mum in the 13 year old’s lifetime and she’s very challenging.

It’s a huge source of strain on our relationship how they behave and how I do or don’t deal with it. I’ve still not figured out what I’m supposed to do and it’s been a good few years now.

What is causing the strain in your house?
