Heart melt. Being a step parent can be so so difficult but this has reminded me to just keep the kids at the centre and focus on meeting their needs.

That’s a good point! Why aren’t there more stories of lovely step-parents? It’s a common thing these days so surely the wicked stepmother narrative is outdated and needs a refresh?!

She wants to watch some Christmas films! I powered through loads of hallmark crap last year and there were loads of good step mums and dads, very different tone in new films.

She has a point generally though, one you can explore in the interesting book Stepmonster, and it’s lovely she thinks you’re doing a great job
